Comments about B & M Transmission Accessories, Temperature Gauge:

I bought this to keep an eye on my truck transmission. Why didn't detroit think of this? Every trans failure of mine was from overheating caused by a pinched or pluged cooler line. So I moved the sending unit to the pan. Bought a drain plug kit to do so. Would be nice if it was included. I really like the color coded face. Even the wife can tell if there is a problem.

    Now let's go camping...

    • Q:

I need a transmission (fluid) temperature gauge. This one comes with a "specialadapter" and a "T" -- is it designed for the application I have in mind? How would I install it to monitor transmission temp? In the pan or cooler line? I have an '83 454 (motorhoe).

      Thanks Advance!@

      • A:

Install it in cooler line yes, line going from transmission "TO" radiator coolant tank. For a more accurate temperature reading of transmission, it should be installed in the line where fluid comes from transmission going to rad/coolant tank and NOT in line where fluid circulates back to transmission after it has passed thru the coolant tank.... FYO, temp is safe up to 260 degrees even though 260 is rather high. 260 degrees is the max and over 260 degrees will damage trans/converter if it runs that high for an extended amount of time.
