Not the product for my vehicle

Comments about B & M Modulator:

I entered my vehicle 1973 VW Type 3 Squareback. The modulator that was listed is NOT the correct part. Granted, it was a vacuum modulator, but for a GM product, not a VW.

Hi Mack, glad to assist you! It depends upon the skill level of the person performing the operation. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts. The exact repair manual part number for your vehicle is 24064.

The transmission control solenoid may be the possible cause of the problem. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

would this cause my 1992 chevrolet s10 not go into high gear?
    Asked on 12/20/2011 by Anonymous

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The transmission vacuum modulator valve determines how much load is on the engine so the transmission can shift properly. It has a vacuum line that connects to the intake and measures the amount of vacuum in the engine. If the vacuum modulator valve is not working properly, the transmission will not shift properly.
This part B & M GM Vacuum Modulator manufactured by B & M fits GM Transmission Type: TH350 and TH400.

  • Q:

My transmisson is not down shifting to first after driving. It starts off in 1st, shifts nicely to second and third, but when I slow down and come to a stop it only downshifts to 2nd and then I am having to start from a dead stop in second unles I shift it manually into first, or if I punch the gas all the way to the floor it will kick in down with the kick down switch. I was going to replace the modulator to see if it would fix the issue. What do you think the problem might be and will this resolve it.?

    Thanks
