    looking at the coil on plug boot picture part number50008-1 which way does the spring go into the boot?

      A:

      I'd be happy to help you with that! The more expanded part of the spring is the part that usually connects to the spark plug because it is more flexible to snap on and off the plug terminal. The tighter wound side usually attaches to the coil. This is based of my personal experience, but I am not familiar with all manufacturers. When you take off your old ones note the position of the spring in it and install this the same way.

    Is this the part that sits on the left side of the engine block and takes the place of the distributor? If not, what is the name of that part?

      No this goes on the spark plug connected to the coil.
