Comments about Autolite Iridium XP Spark Plug:

I PLAN TO INSTALL THE PLUGS IN A HIGH PERFORMANCE RACING MOTOR. THE PLUGS APPEAR HIGH QUALITY. THERE IS A CONCERN ON IF THE GAP CAN BE OPENED UP FOR MY IGNITION SYSTEM.

Comments about Autolite Iridium XP Spark Plug:

I replaced the original plugs in a 2008 Hyundai Sonata 2.4l with 141,500 miles. Original plugs were Denzo Iridium and they showed very little wear.
Make sure to gap these plugs according to your engine's specification.

Installed in 2005 Pontiac Vibe. Light misfiring and poor fuel economy after 40,000 miles. The plugs show normal wear but significant gap variation although all were gapped identically at installation.

                A:

A spark plug part number might fit hundreds of different engines from many different manufacturers. Although the spark plug from the factory will come with a gap to a pre-selected setting, this may not be the right gap for your particular engine. The incorrect plug gap for your engine can contribute to a high rate of misfires, loss of power, plug fouling, poor fuel economy, and accelerated plug wear. It is always best to check the gap against the manufacturer's specifications. If adjusting the gap on fine wire or precious metal plugs such as platinum or iridium be very careful not to apply any pressure or prying force to the fine wire center electrode or insulator as they can be damaged. The gap should be adjusted by only moving the ground electrode. For proper spark plug gap for your vehicle, please provide your vehicle make, model and engine specification.
