Product seems to be an exact replica of original part. I am fairly handy, however without directions this task became a relatively complex job. Had I not read other reviews I'd still be trying to get it back together.

The T30 star bit/drive and Needle nose pliers are a must. The suggestion to start by unhooking the left side (top) first allows the needed flexibility to get the bottom (right side) undone. At this point, you don't need to squeeze the handle back in the hole until AFTER you get the bottom retainer attached. Then, reversing the process starting at the bottom/right first then moving up to the left/top retainer clip.

One reviewer mentioned screwing the retaining clips all the way to the end of the threads to help with the door latching closed and its ease of opening. I found that not to be true in my case - the door would not latch shut at all. I ended up removing the handle a second time and moving the retainers back to the middle of the threads and had no problems after it was reassembled. My recommendation in the case of rethreading the retaining clips is that if you had no issues with the door before, replace them to about the same part of the treads.

In hind sight - it is a relatively easy repair. - If there is a need - the next one should be a breeze!

NOT AN EXACT REPLACEMENT FOR MY 2000 S10! I ran into the same thing as Mr Gibby stated in his review on 12-7-15. The threaded clips were much larger in diameter than that of the threaded rods that actuate the latching mechanisims. There is no way they would have worked. The only thing that saved the day for me was that I was able to re-install and re-use the old threaded clips which I had removed. I don't know how securely these old clips mated with the new handle but it is working for now. How long it will work I don't know. Hopefully this arrangement will buy me time to find a true rexact replacement.

I would suggest to anyone purchasing this version of this part to be prepared to re-use their existing clips. (So don't be too quick to remove them from the threaded rods.)

The good thing here is I have less than $10.00 invested.

Handle appears to be identical to the broken one on my 1998 Sonoma. However, the threaded clips that mount to the release rods are for a larger diameter rod than the OEM handle.

Door handle looks exact as original. but replacement has been tweaked for the better. After 8 replacements, I'm glad I found after-market part replacement. I also think the after market part has actually been improved.

Comments about AutoCraft Third Door Handle, Interior, Right:

I didn't realize it was so simple to install on my 2003 S-10. I read various places that you have to remove the door panel to replace it, but you don't even have to do that. Simply unscrew the (2) star tip screws holding the assembly in, pull assembly out part way, use a needle nose pliers to depress the two plastic anchors attaching the assembly to the metal rods, and pull the handle out. Then simply unscrew the two plastic pieces attached to the rods and spin the (2) new plastic pieces on. As another reviewer mentioned, it worked the best for me when I spun the top plastic piece all the way to the top thread, and the bottom all the way to the bottom thread. Next, takes a little finesse (if you don't have the door panels off). You'll need to attach the handle back to the rods/plastic anchors. I found it was easier to start with the bottom rod first so I didn't have the handle in my way when trying to attach the top. Once attached, screwed it back in, sprayed some lube on all metal parts (including release mechanisms on top and bottom of door), and it worked perfectly. It honestly opened MUCH easier than when it was brand new. The factory only had the anchors spun up about half way up the thread...making it where I would have to push the door in while pulling the handle to get it to open. Now I can open it with two fingers...the way it should have been from the start.

May be too late, but if you're just replacing the handle you won't need any additional parts. If the adjustable threaded pieces are broken that attach to the two pull rods inside the door will need to be replaced.
