First battery was almost 1.5 years old and did not take a charge well. Second one was much fresher and charged up well. Counter Folks were very helpful running battery test on both. Both were way better than the 3 year old OEM battery I had. Original lawn tractor supplier did not even list a replacement even though it was their battery I had to replace. This unit was not a sealed cell battery so I could check water level in the cells. Anytime a battery gets abused (totally discharged or over charged), you want to check the water level before charging. (Yes, I know it is sulphuric acid, but only the water evaporates so all you need to replace is water, preferably with distilled water).

Comments about Autocraft Lawn & Garden 12-Volt Small Engine Maintenance-Free Battery, Group Size U1R, 340 CCA:

THE BATTERIES ON THE SHELF CAN BE UP TO 2 AND 1/2 YEARS OLD - THIS IS NORMALLY OK , BUT THEY STORE THEM WET WITH ELECTROLYTE. THIS CAUSES THE BATTERY TO DETERIORATE FROM JUST SITTING AND MAY FAIL MUCH SOONER THAN NECESSARY FORCING CONSUMERS TO BUY ANOTHER,

STORING THE BATTERIES DRY WOULD LIKELY SOLVE THIS ISSUE.

First mower battery I've ever owned that lasted more than 2 years....Almost finished for the 3rd years. It's beginning to show signs of weakness. It's only used about 4 months a year and sits in the garage all winter. Good battery for the price.

I'm very satisfied with this battery for my Craftsman riding lawn mover. Good quality construction, easy fit into the comparment under the seat, and top-end power specifications for its battery class. I bought the U1R, rather than U1, since it had slightly higher power specs and battery terminal orientation didn't matter in my application (cables were long enough to reach either side). I have replaced the battery about every two years, with the battery getting better specs on each purchase.

Hi Radar, glad to serve you! This battery come with 3 months replacement warranty only. The battery Free Replacement Period begins the day of purchase and expires at the end of the Free Replacement Period that is printed on your original sales receipt. This period does not renew when the battery is replaced during the Free Replacement Period. If the battery is found defective after the Free Replacement Period but prior to the end of the warranty period, a prorated credit will be issued that can be applied toward the purchase of a new battery. The prorated credit will be determined by dividing the original purchase price by the number of months of the warranty period, then multiplying the result by the months remaining in the warranty period. Partial months are rounded to the nearest whole month. Installation or use of an automotive battery in any other type of vehicle or equipment voids your warranty.

                            A:

A 4 or 5-digit shipping date code is engraved into the cover of each Interstate battery at the time the battery is shipped. This code can only be seen when looking down on the top of the battery. The code is not on the label on the battery and it is not on the rim around the cover. The code is usually near one of the corners of the battery. This code tells when the battery was shipped from the factory to the local Interstate Battery wholesale distributor. The additional digits tell where the battery was made. The first digit from the left side is a letter which stands for the month of the year. A = January; B = February; C = March, etc. The second digit from the left is the year that the battery was shipped from the factory. 4 = 2004, 5 = 2005, 6 = 2006, 7 = 2007, 8 = 2008, 9 = 2009, 0 = 2010, 1 = 2011, 2 = 2012, etc. For further assistance, please feel free to call us at 1-877-238-2623 or visit your nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our representatives would be more than happy to assist you.
