I've used this battery for a Murray Rear Engine Rider with a 10HP Tecumseh and a Murray Mid-Engine rider with a 13.5HP OHV Tecumseh.

These batteries have plenty of power for mowers with these vertical shaft engines and no lights. My only minor gripe is that the carriage bolt holes that were in the first one aren't there for the second one I bought for the newer mower.

Bought 4 months ago. Kept going dead all winter in the garage. Garage temp is well above freezing, but I thought the colder temp was causing it to go dead. It was not. Now the weather is warm and it still won't hold a charge, but it's 4 months old and the warrantee has run out. It's only a 3 month replacement warrentee and they don't prorate it after that, so I got stuck.

Battery worked ok for about 4 months then start to fade. Would not take a charge. Had to jump it to use the lawn tractor. Buy the better Battery U1-2 or 3. The 160 cranking amps is not enough especially in cooler weather. The last 320 cranking amps lasted a few years. Battery was used in a Honda 4514 Lawn Tractor which starts very easy.

Bought this little guy 8/11/15 for an 18.5hp B & S lawn mower. All was fine for three months. It's Feb and the battery will not hold a charge. Lousy, don't know a better quality battery at AAP but I do know one to avoid.
An expensive paper weight at best.

This is the 2nd of there batterys to go bad just over the warr. in 2 years. Car battery lasted just 13 months and no they would not adjust it and this lawn tractor battery was built 4/14 and by fall was hardly starting a small john deere and when it got cold no way and it will not hold a load from a tester. The best batterys they have might hold up but who buys the best for beaters.

Reasonable/fair price, especially when using "bonus" discounts for on-line purchases. Using battery for Electric Start on Stand By Generator. Not as many Cold Crank Amps and Cranking Amps as the batteries on sale in other vendors but a little bit cheaper.

I'm glad to assist, Drew! This AutoCraft Lawn & Garden 12-Volt Small Engine Maintenance-Free Battery (Part No. U1-1) has a 41 minute reserve capacity and a 28 amp hour rating. While researching this battery application, one of the pressure washers I came across required a group size 75 battery. When making the selection for your battery, the group size is also important to make sure that the battery will fit properly in the unit.

When I charge the battery, what setting should I use on the battery charger? I have a choice of "standard," "AGM," or "Gel."

Happy to help you with your question Teddy! Because these garden batteries are similar to standard lead acid car batteries you can have it set to the "Standard" setting. Another thing to consider is to lower the amperage rating when charging this small engine battery.
