I have purchased TWO of these "GOLD" Batteries. The FIRST one went into my 1997 Ford F-250 4X4 460 CID. IT, only lasted not quite ONE YEAR. I have worked with lead acid Batteries for 45+ years, so I checked the specific gravity on all the cells when this one rolled over on it's back, (it went T.U. at least 12 times, and had to be charged just to start the truck) and the #2 cell (from Neg term) was reading "water only". The alternator always puts out 14.6 VDC, and the "ALL OFF" current drain is only 3.5 MICROAMPS. So this Battery went back to the Advance Auto Parts store where I bought it, and "explained" to the sales KID, WHY it was BAD. It was obvious, that he didn't have a CLUE, as to what I was talking about with "Specific Gravity", so he "Tested" it with an Electronic Tester, which of course told him it was O.K. !! There was NO educating him about batteries, so he would NOT replace it for me. Of course the Manager was not there at the time, so I found out WHEN he was supposed to be there (next day) and I went back and talked to him. He was very nice, and swapped it right away. So I got a NEW identical battery put in. Well, the new one was built in May, 2010, and now IT keeps going DEAD!! But, I am tired of battery swapping, so I gave up on this "THING". I live in Lakewood CO, and I like a battery that will turn my crank at ANY temperature, even if the headlights were left on for 1 or 2 hours, (which actually happened to my wife in our 1995 Aerostar, with an Autocraft Titanium battery in it). The original MOTORCRAFT factory battery that came in my truck, lasted ELEVEN YEARS with never a failure!!! So I went to a FORD dealer and had a new 850 CCA battery put in. NO MORE AUTOCRAFT BATTERIES FOR ME. Sorry, but some of the CHILDREN working there, have NO knowledge of what they sell. But, that is becoming common everywhere these days, isn't it !!

Comments about AutoCraft Gold Battery, Group Size 65, 850 CCA:

OK so this said it was a perfect fir for my Ford Edge. AAP listed this along with smaller batteries but since this had the highest CCA I figured this was my best bet. Well I should have looked at the OEM battery, it has 580 CCA and is significantly smaller than this one. While this does fit it barely does. You can get it physically in place but since the battery is about 2" longer and probably an inch higher the cables barely reach. Maybe I have the shortest cables Ford made but if not some won't be able to get this to fit.

Comments about AutoCraft Gold Battery, Group Size 65, 850 CCA:

Had a new battery put in and it only last two weeks before it died. Took the vehicle back to Advanced Auto and had it tested. was told that the battery would be replaced as they thought it was old when it was sold to me.. REALLY? The next battery only lasted 3 months and then would not hold a charge for more than a 4 days. Took it back again, had it tested and was told the battery was fine and the problem was my car so they would not warrantee the battery " since we just waranteed the other one". Ended up selling the car due to the car now not starting if it sat for more than 1 day. After I sold the car, I was told from the new owner that the problem was NOT THE CAR but the battery would not hold a charge. I'll never buy another battery from Advance Auto again!

Best choice for my '98 Ford Expedition 4x4 4.6L V8 VIN-W....Recently had to replace the alternator which completely drained this battery...With new alternator installed the battery bounced back good as new...This battery will also out last its stated life cycle, which I believe is around 4 years

bought two of these batteries in december 2014, exactly 1 year ago this month, dealt with slow cranking from the start, ended up having dead cells in both, and the brick and mortar store and national headquarters refused to warranty them out because i didn't hang onto the receipt. advance does not honor their products warranty and are horrible to deal with. i closed my account with them after this occurred. after problems returning starters/ fuel pumps / alternators as well.

I purchased this battery 66 months ago and it is just now starting to die. This battery is in a Super Duty that gets driven once every two weeks for short gopher runs. Not an ideal situation for a battery, but this one lasted way past what I consider a useful life span. I will be replacing it this weekend and I am sure I can get another 60 plus months out of it.

We bought this battery Christmas eve for our 2003 Ford Windstar Limited. We started having problems with the battery maintaining charge while camping in June 2015. After getting it jumpstarted and a long drive home and then additional 12 hours on a trickle charge we continue to have issues with it. Started having major problems with it in August 2015 again while camping. In September I thought enough is enough and I brought it back to have it tested. What was determined it did have a bad cell and that I only had four months left of the free replacement. It's a good thing for me that when I bought this battery it came with a three-year for replacement and then an additional four year prorated replacement. As I am fairly certain that I will be there again in a couple of years to have it tested and replaced.

I bought the battery on Jan 8, 2013 for my 1998 F150 4.2L. It just made it through a record setting cold winter without any problems. Now the temps are up above freezing, March 16 2015, and the battery sudenly dies. Worked great in the morning, couldn't crank the engine at lunch. I thought it was the starter, but had the battery tested, and it was bad. I still had the receipt (unusual for me), so they replaced without any problems. Hope I get more than 2 years out of this one

Three year warranty? Bought the Autocraft Gold 3/12. Battery failed (dead cell) 3/15 (three years almost to the day). Returned it to Advance. Sales person tested it and said, "Yeah, it's toast!" I had to point out the date sticker and the fact that it was still under warranty. He didn't seem to want to bother with the warranty process. I insisted. I didn't have the sales receipt and the purchase couldn't be found in the system under my phone number. He basically just said, "too bad," and offered to sell me a new one. I told him I would prefer to purchase an Everlast battery of the same size and rating from another retailer for $50 less with a 3 year free-2 years prorated replacement warranty, and one that I know from experience does honor their warranty agreements. Advance, you let me down!

I bought this battery to use in a car for my amateur radio. The radio would drain the stock battery in a couple of hours use. With this battery I can talk for 4 hours, fire up the car and drive away. I never saw any drain on this battery even on my longest radio outings. If you need long lasting power, this is the ticket.

Hi Lincoln, happy to help you! Your existing Autocraft battery must be returned to the Advance Auto Parts store with the original receipt and the Store Manager will be in a better position to approve the pro-rated warranty upon physical inspection. Once the warranty has been approved, the Store Manager will help you with the replacement order and credit procedure.

I returned my battery due to its not holding a charge. I did have my receipt, and my customer information was also in your system. I am incurring similar problem now w/the battery that you gave me to replace the other problematic one with. I took it back to the store w/receipt also, but I was told that it was tested and the testing indicated that the battery was alright. Why isn't it powered up enough to be able to start my van, then? You should be including manufacturer info and jump starting/charging recommendations for your female customers, and others who haven't a clue about auto mechanics. Why won't you replace my battery? Is it because you have already swapped it out once? Ms. Rosetta E. McCoy

I have bought several deep cell marine autocraft batteries. These are going to be used in a solar panel project of mine. My question is this; after I wire all of these batteries that I bought from you guys and have them connected to my solar panels, can I store them inside my home? My two main rooms are both connected upstairs of the house with open closets and no dividers. When the solar panels are charging the batteries will they put off harmful gases?

Yes Mark, The replacement or refund will only be considered if you bring the defective part to an Advance Auto Parts store along with your original sales receipt.

Do I have to make the purchase at the store for the warranty prorated refund? The battery failed in 37 months, but I would like to purchase online for discounts and do an in-store pickup if possible. Can I get the prorated portion back somehow though I purchase online?

Hi Guy, glad to assist you! You can very welll purchase online and pick-up at store to get the warranty pro-rated refund. This battery comes with 3 years free replacement warranty. The battery Free Replacement Period begins the day of purchase and expires at the end of the Free Replacement Period that is printed on your original sales receipt. This period does not renew when the battery is replaced during the Free Replacement Period. If the battery is found defective after the Free Replacement Period but prior to the end of the warranty period, a prorated credit will be issued that can be applied toward the purchase of a new battery. The prorated credit will be determined by dividing the original purchase price by the number of months of the warranty period, then multiplying the result by the months remaining in the warranty period. Partial months are rounded to the nearest whole month. Installation or use of an automotive battery in any other type of vehicle or equipment voids your warranty. If I order the battery online for in-store pickup, will they still install it for free or is that only if I purchased the battery in the store?

Hi Boosted, glad to assist you! We do offer free installation of batteries on most automotive vehicles, at most locations, unless prohibited by law. Free installation of batteries may not be available at all stores due to select local community ordinances. I suggest you to contact the nearest store with your year, make, model and engine specification of your vehicle and they would be in a better position to let you know the they offer free battery installation.

After disconnecting the negative battery terminal from the battery, I found the positive battery terminal stuck on. Would using pb on a stuck positive battery terminal be a bad idea? If not, are there any tips to doing this? Would using baking soda and water on a stuck on positive battery terminal be a bad idea? Thank you.

Looking at this battery for a 1999 Ford Expedition, 5.4 V-8. My concern is the picture shows the positive battery post on the top left side. The battery installs on the passenger side but the positive post must be on the right side, closer to the engine so that the positive cable will reach. Are the pictures accurate?

Hello Dave! Happy to help you answer your question. According to a local store with the battery turned closest to you the positive terminal is on the left side of the battery.
