My 1999 Mustang GT is a secondary auto and is stored for long periods in the garage. The security system would always drain my battery and when I wanted to drive I would have to charge the battery. This battery holds the charge and has no problem cranking the car after sitting for weeks. Appears to be a darn good battery. Installation was very easy. It was a perfect replacement size for my 1999 Mustang GT. I highly recommend this battery. Order online and drive over and pick-up at store, giving them your old battery at the same time. What could be easier.

Advance Auto advertises free battery installation. I went to get this battery with the intention of having it installed there at the store. There were two women inside running the store and neither one looked very capable or anxious to install it for me, so I took it home and did it myself.

Great for replacement Ford Ranger as these batteries seem to be a bit undersized for the vehicle. The gold seems to have enough power to crank the motor easily in the single digit temps it sees

Comments about AutoCraft Gold Battery, Group Size 58, 610 CCA:

Was going to get the year warranty battery but with the sale they had for 5 bucks more I could get the 3 year one. It is definitely nicer and cranks up much better than my previous one which was a year warranty one.

Comments about AutoCraft Gold Battery, Group Size 58, 610 CCA:

This "gold star" battery has been demoted and is now called the silver battery. We still had to pay extra cash to get the new version of the gold battery but were credited some money for the old battery. I'll see how this goes but the 3 cars we have that use these batteries have all had issues. It will likely be last time I buy one of these batteries. The good attitude and help of the staff at the store made up for a lot of the inconvenience.

It is a battery - Maintenance Free, Who knows? Install Bad

Comments about AutoCraft Gold Battery, Group Size 58, 610 CCA:

Battery is fine, not sure if it is maintenance free as it does not say and sales clerk did not know. What is the warranty? It is 3 year free replacement, what after that? It does not say, not even the website listing.

Hi Lewesmartin, great question! No, you can't. This is a maintenance free battery, you can't take off the caps from this one. On a serviceable one, you can take off the caps.

  • Q:

I bought this battery from one of your stores yesterday. After the store employee installed it into my car, my air-conditioner (which worked before your new battery was installed!)did not blow any air from vent, etc.! The air was blowing cold from my defrost system, but NOT into my carfrom the vent or A/C panel! Did installing this battery affect my air-conditioner not blowing the air into my car?
Asked on 5/1/2012 by Gi from Griffin,GA

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The problem might be a bad mode door actuator and not related to the battery installation. When power is disconnected and reconnected the door performs a 'self test'. It goes from stop to stop so it may know the travel length. Once it does the first stop it senses the pressure and goes to the other stop and then it is good. It contains a plastic gear inside which overtime gets weak. So when it does a self test, the pressure of the stop cracks the gear. It gets stuck on the stop and will not control the vents. This same issue arises when you have a bad alternator and ran your battery. Please check with the store for an Actuator(not sure of the part cost) and they will assist you further.

Answered on 11/4/2010 by Chas from Balt. MD
    • A:

My battery just died - I have a '01 ZX2 w/ 81k miles. I don't drive as far as you, but always plugged my phone, sometimes when oarked. When my last battery died I replaced with this one, which just recently died. Sticker on battery says 03/07 and it's approaching 02/14. I think almost 7 years on a battery is pretty good -- just wish it gave me an indication that it was going dead.

Side Note: Even though I don't put many miles on my car, the majority has come from short (~2mi) trips, which may actually put more stress on the battery, since alternator doesn't replenish as much and it's a lot of cold starts. So I think I'll get it again.
