What can I say, my old battery died and I needed a new one. This one seemed pretty reasonable, especially with the sale that was running. Installation was interesting. There are some raised portions on the top of the battery that made it a little more difficult to bracket in place. Further, the handle wasn't easy to remove, and it had to be removed in order to replace the cover on the battery well. But, it starts my car where my other wouldn't, and it has more cold-cranking amps than a few other batteries I looked at in this range. I've been using it for a few weeks now, and have had no problems whatsoever. Hopefully, this will last me till I change cars.

My family and I have been loyal to the Advance Auto batteries for years but recently I have had to replace this battery way too soon in multiple vehicles. Just recently with a 1.5 year old battery that had already been replaced once (that was 2 years old) left me stranded with a 2 year old and me 36 weeks pregnant. Advance would not honor their warranty or their prorated warranty. I will not purchase this item again.

Comments about AutoCraft Gold Battery, Group Size 35, 640 CCA:

I always try to do a little research and shopping before making a sizable purchase, but ultimately I settled on the Autocraft Gold because that's what I purchased for my wife's Honda CR-V a little over a year ago. It hasn't had any problems, so I expect the same with this one. And AAP seems to have the best deals and best reviewed batteries, which is what I like.

I also didn't have to do any of the work. Their employee swapped it out in less than 10 minutes and had a battery backup on so I didn't lose my channels. I actually don't care much about that but it was easy for them to do and a nice courtesy thing. I ordered online and it was ready in plenty of time.

    No complaints.

Researched batteries, Advanced Auto here in Hutchinson,MN had had best deals and reviews. Serviceman gave me the "online" deal, even though I went to store and made the purchase! The free install of battery was awesome! He even offered to replace my In Cabin air filter AND engine air filter that I purchased!! I got to watch and learn the procedures!! I LOVED the service I received with a SMILE!!! Just found myself a NEW auto Parts Store!! This female REALLY appreciates service like THAT!!!

my 36 month battery only lasted 16 months. It would not turn over at all. When I took it back to the store I was told they would have to charge it for 30 minutes and test it them. I told them if the battery was good, my car would charge it. I am very unhappy with the customer service and I will not be going back to Advance Auto.

I very rarely use my vehicle as I have a company car. I start me car frequently and recently it did not start. I took the battery to where I purchased it and they said it has a bad cell. This battery has maybe 5000 miles on it and is run enough to charge it regularly. Premature death in my humble opinion. Not worth the high price.

                    • Q:

I have a 24F6 Gold Battery purchased in August 2012. The warranty was 36 month free replacement and 84 month prorated. The battery is now about 5 years old and is testing that it needs to be replaced (fails cold cranking amps) per Advance Auto Technician administered test. The local store will not honor the 84 month prorated warranty on my original receipt. I have checked with a second store in the area and I get the same story. How can Advance decline to back their original warranty?

The Autocraft Gold Battery (Part No. 35-2-S) is a "Southern Design" battery sold in our Florida stores due to the climate the batteries will experience. This design helps to ensure that the battery can withstand heat better than a standard battery.

I'm happy to help, John! Batteries are tested with the Midtronics EXP-1200 at your local Advance Auto Parts store. This tester will provide results to the team member indicating whether the battery is good, requires replacement or needs charged. This tester can determine if there are bad cells in the battery. Specific gravity readings are not done by the store team members.

                        A:

I'm happy to help, TA! Both of these Autocraft Gold batteries are built with the PowerFrame Grid Technology and carry a 3 year free replacement warranty. As you can see, Part No. 27F-1, has 710 cold cranking amps (CCA) and 885 cranking amps (CA). This battery is larger and heavier than Part No. 35-2. Part No. 27F-1 is 8 13/16 in (H) x 12 3/4 in (L) x 6 5/8 in (W) and weighs 50 lbs. This battery has a reserve capacity of 165 minutes, which can be useful for using electronic devices with the vehicle off.

Part No. 35-2 has 640 CCA and 800 CA and is 8 13/16 in (H) x 9 11/16 in (L) x 6 7/8 in (W). It weights 38 lbs and has a reserve capacity of 100 minutes. A battery with more power and reserve capacity can be a great benefit in the extreme cold and when using multiple electronic devices with the vehicle off, as long as it will fit in your battery tray.

Many of these specifications can be found in the Specifications tab.

Happy to answer your question Drew! Our stores will keep a battery on our shelves up to 1(one) year before it is cycled out regardless of manufacture date. If your battery feels weak you can take it to any one of our stores and we can test it and charge the battery or replace it if it is under warranty.

Hello Dakuli, happy to answer that question you have. Both the 35-2-S and 35-2 will fit your vehicle, the difference between them is the 35-2-S has heat syncs built into it to dissipate heat and is primarily for hot climates. The battery is currently only available for the state of Florida. The 35-2 will work for your vehicle. Give your local store a call or call us at 1-877-238-2623 and a Parts Pro can help you get one.

I purchased this battery in May 2013 and its now September 2014. Yesterday morning I go to start my car and the car refuses to start. The local mechanic diagnosed that the battery is refusing to charge fully and needs a replacement. I am right now in Canada and need a battery replacement. I am still covered under the 3 year free replacement warranty but as there is no Advance Auto Parts store here how can I get the free replacement. Can I also get an online receipt of my purchase for claiming the warranty as I do not have my purcase receipt with me right now.

Hi Vijay, I realize your concern regarding the warranty replacement. As per your request, I have resent your order confirmation email to your email address. Please note that the order confirmation will serve as a receipt for the order #18114650. I recommend that you visit any Advance Auto Parts store along with your original receipt and the Store Manager will be in a better position to assist you with your inquiry.

I have an Autocraft Titanium battery that has given me good service for 6 years, but I am wondering how much longer it can last and wanted to replace it with the same one. I was told that they no longer carry the titanium model at Advance any longer. I was wondering why not and how much longer can I expect my present one to last? thanks.

                        A:

Hi John, glad to assist you! There is no predetermined amount of battery life. So many variables come into play that it really depends on the situation at hand. Typically a battery will last up to 5 years if maintained properly and might last for as long as 12 years. The AutoCraft Titanium Battery is currently unavailable online and we were not provided with exact date of future availability.
