Q:understand the power post (red wire) understand ground post(black wire)dont understand middle post which says load.tryng to hook up led lights to switch.lights have two wires neg.and positive.would neg wires to the lights be connected to load post with ground being by itself
A:This part Autocraft Electrical Switches - Toggle - Lever LED - Metal Style - Red LED, Part No. 84894, the middle post is used to send power to whatever you are controlling with the switch (for example: if you have a light that you want to turn on, you will run the power wire for that light to the center terminal. when the switch is flipped, it will send power on that wire to turn the lights on.), as for your trying to hook up led lights to switch, hook the negative up to a good body ground and the positive would go to the switch (ie; middle pin).
A:The ground wire is the odd one on this switch. Normally you would just have 2 terminals but in order for the LED in the switch to work it has to have a circuit. So the ground wire lug is only there to complete the circuit for the LED in the switch.
