Needed to replace rusted brake lines. Usually I have someone with a pro-grade tool to make my flares, but he wasn't available. I bought this to do my own. My flares with this tool did not look as good as the ones my friends $600 hydraulic flare tool makes, but all 6 of them worked on the first attempt. My advice when using this tool: Practice on some scrap lines first. Do 5 or so practice flares. You'll get better as you go. The height of the tubing in the jaws is critical. If it's set too high, it won't work. Take the time to get it just right. Do not over tighten the jaws, or crank down too hard on the anvil when flaring. I know some people didn't like this tool, but worked just fine for me.

Comments about Autocraft Double Flaring Tool Set:

When tightening the anvil, the clamp shifts and does not stay parallel, causing an oblong opening. The same thing happens when screwing down the flaring cone. This causes a variation in the angle of the flare.

Before buying it, I read the other reviews and thought there was no way it could possibly be as bad as some of them were describing.

                    Boy, was I wrong.

This is a useless piece of junk. Kept slipping on me, and the yoke is not really shaped or sized to be of much use.

Searching for some part information for the set listed below:

Part # AC586 - Autocraft Double Flaring Tool Set.

By design, in regards to the YOKE assembly. Is there suppose to be a "ball bearing" that sits inside the back hole of the pointed CONE, between the back of the CONE and the main threaded bolt that pushes the CONE against the individual ADAPTERS?
If so, can you specify the "ball bearing" size so I can locate and purchase one? Please advise, Thanks.

No, I am sorry. The Yoke assembly within the Autocraft Double Flaring Tool Set (Part No. AC586/W80670) does not come with a ball bearing in it. The floating yoke type compressor is made of a steel, drop forging, and easily slips over the die block.
