Comments about AutoCraft Door Handle, Exterior:

Customer could not enter her car in an ice storm and tore off both front outside handles, outer lip you grab ahold of, and inner when she tried to exit and she needed to be able to enter and exit the driver's door.

Used rear door for front door, but they sell those as well and much easier to install, 5 minute job.

This product took care of her needs and now she can enter her driver's door once again.

The only difficulties installing were:
1.) The placement of the access hole through the door skin, it was 1 hole for 2 rear bolts and they split the difference, favoring the top bolt, so socket was at angle on each rear bolt, the front bolt, there are 3 total, was in a larger area you could fit your whole hand into if your car uses the manual window crank system.

2.) The stock clip for the linkage to the door latch was tough to remove, took some force to pop off after clip was released. I ended up pivoting the handle through to the outside to use needle nose to pull it free, clip was up, oil was used, just couldn't get it to budge.

Installation was a breeze other than the access hole issue. You can add a small piece of paper into your 10MM socket when you place the bolt into it to prevent it dropping into your door when re-installing.

Overall time was just under 1 hour, remember to lube the latch assembly while you have access to it and not to over tighten any bolts and you will be fine.

I had the tool for the clip on the manual window crank and there were 2 screws under the armrest that you have to access by pulling up on the pad in 4 places to unclip it from it's position, most armrests or door pulls have fasteners to prevent them from being pulled off the door, 1 plastic clip with center locking pin that looked like a screw head, you pull the screw outward then pry entire clip free, rest of clips are on underside, you just pry with your hand close to the clips and give a quick pull, try not to be too aggressive, especially if doing this in the cold to prevent you breaking the clips or door panel ...

Comments about AutoCraft Door Handle, Exterior:

This version, sold by Advance, has the metal hinge pin. Others sold by Dorman(at this price) have a really ineffective plastic joint. I believe I've seen this one sold for three times this price. Therefore, this is a relatively excellent deal. However, overall, in my opinion, it's really only worth exactly what I paid.

How do I install the drivers side door handle ( part # 77563 ) 2002 Toyota Corolla S
Asked on 11/23/2016 by James from Leland, NC

          A:

Hi James, glad to assist you! For replacing the door handleon your 2002 Toyota Corolla, you will need a Phillips screwdriver, a flat screwdriver, 10mm socket with ratchet plus extender and a flashlight may come in handy. Replacing the exterior door handle implies that you detach the interior door paneling to access its mounting points, so here's how: Open the door and unscrew the bolt that keeps the inside handle attached to the panel. Pull the interior handle out of its place and detach the wire attached to it with a screwdriver. Then take out the handle completely. Using the flathead screwdriver, pry the switch panel on the door, disconnect its wires and take it out. Do the same with the armrest tab. Locate all the screws and clips that holds the paneling on the door and remove them. Take out the door paneling and remove the water protective foil a bit to gain access. Undo the door handle's yellow clip and take out the metal rod it was holding. There is another clip with rod a bit lower so unmount that too. Unscrew the 10mm bolts and take out the door handle. Put the new one in and follow the same steps backwards to put everything back together.
