Comments about Autocraft Deer Alarm Whistles:

I don't trust the little stick on things that are used to mount the deer alerts. I always use supper glue to keep them in place. I have used deer alerts for years and have only hit one deer (because My speed dropped below 30mph). Wouldn't be without them. Use them on all of our vehicles.

Comments about Autocraft Deer Alarm Whistles:

Animal warning whistles are a simple and cost effective solution product that attempts to provide a additional safety measures. This simple ultrasonic frequency whistle may prevent unfortunate encounters with wildlife.

Installation is both quick and easy. Find and clean an appropriate location for two units, then press on with the provided double sided tape.

Maintenance is very simple, simply keep the units clean and unobstructed. With the low price of this product, I keep a spare set to replace the units as needed.

These are available in both silver or black allowing them to be used by just about any vehicle without looking like some poor fitting after thought add-on.

I drive frequently on country roads heavily populated with deer. Night drives were high anxiety and slow speeds anticipating them. The deer whisltes give me more confidence and peace of mind.

Some poo-poo these deer whistles. I have used them for 10 years and have had four occasions where I have seen them stop various animals from entering the roadway. Anecdotal approval, I know, but they work for me.

Comments about Autocraft Deer Alarm Whistles:

I had 3 deer coming out of a cornfield to cross the highway in front of me while I was at highway speed on a very quiet Goldwing. All 3 deer stopped in the bar ditch and just looked at me as I approached them during a hard break just in case. When I got within about 25 feet they ran away from the road. I have other instances where deer just stopped and looked, but did not come across the road in front of me. These work! A must for rural motorcyclists.

Hi Hassan, happy to help! The whistle is not meant to scare the deer, camel or any other animal away, just alert them to your presence. The whistles can't hurt, but at the speed cars are traveling, the deer or any other animal will not react to the whistle correctly in time. Hope this helps.

No, just as you cannot hear the whistle while driving, neither will your animals. The directional sonic wave is focused ahead of your vehicle. As far as I know and have found, the only limit is that you have to be going at least 30-35 mph for these to work. I can not find any top speed where they stop working.

Every kit that I have seen has holes on both ends so when the air passes through, it can produce the high pitch whistle that supposedly only deer can hear.

One of the pair of whistles has the straight-through air path blocked at the rear in a way that's obviously intentional (not a manufacturing flaw). This is true of both the pair I just bought at AAP, packaged under the Autocraft label, and the pair I bought elsewhere a couple years ago, packaged under the maker's own label (Bell).

The latter pair has more complete instructions. They explain that the blockage gives one whistle a different tone than the other, and that the dual tone gets animals' attention better. They even specify that the blocked whistle should go on the passenger's side of the car-- don't ask me why.
