I was looking to purchase a decent, long-lasting jumper cable for my vehicle. I bought sight unseen, based on user reviews, which is something that I do not usually do. I must say that I'm completely satisfied. Now, could you find a cheaper set? A more expensive set? Yes---to both questions, however, I feel that these jumper cables are very high quality for the price. Not too mention a full 20ft of cable. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and would recommend to anyone who is in the market for a high quality set of jumper cables.

Bought two sets of these from our local store. No where on the container does it state that this product is/or is not 100% copper. The cables are not copper! They are copper clad aluminum. These do NOT have the same conductivity as copper cables. Aluminium has about 60% the conductivity of copper. Will you vehicle start with a jump start of 60%, maybe but just when you needed it most probably not. I am taking the second set back. Should take both sets back but the first in pieces - looking for copper. Will throw it away.

After purchasing the Jumper Cables. I went to the store and picked them up. I told casier I had brought a battery back which would not hold charge. I purchased the battery on internet and picked up at store also. The store had no record of purchase. (Fortunately I kept receipt in truck), however had I not had my receipt, then my warranty would have been void. It is my suggestion that they keep a record in their computer at least as long as the warranty is valid. Overall I respect Advance Auto, they have very courteous and helpful staff as well as quality merchandise.

These are good cables, plenty long and decent guage. Took about 5 minutes to start a truck that left his lights on all day in the cold. They held up well and didn't even get warm during the charge. A little more expensive than others, but you get what you pay for.

I have used these for a couple different things. First, the obvious dead battery jump. I have jumped the tractor, cars, trucks, rvs, and an occasional stranded motorist or 2. But I really like them for using my winch on my Jeep that I have hitch mounted to pull down trees. No need to hard wire the battery relocation, just hook up the leapers and before you know it you're tugging down trees. This set never leaves the Jeep. I can always count on these to do the job and never get overheated from a heavy electrical load.

I thought that I was getting quality cables with 4 gauge wire. I purchased three sets, one for each of my vehicles. I could not jump car with these. It would power instrument panel but would not even turn the starter. I tried two of the three sets. I did not try the third set. I even took the dead battery out of the equation and went straight to the positive lead on the dead car and it still would not start. I took the battery out of the car with the good battery and placed in the car with the bad battery and the car started just fine. I am glad that this happened at home. You cannot count on these when you need them. I honestly think that the wire size is fine and that the problem is with them clamps.

I'm happy to help, KC! I don't know of any product changes off hand. These Autocraft Heavy Duty, 20', 4 Gauge Booster Cables (Part No. AC121/A7842041) are copper clad aluminum. I am unable to locate a set of booster cables that utilize 100% pure copper at this time. If it helps, I personally have a set of 4 gauge heavy-duty booster cables that have held up to me jump starting many vehicles and are still going strong. These have been with me through two trucks over the past 6 or 7 years. Mine have a copper clad aluminum conductor as well.

There seems to be some disagreement regarding whether these cables have copper conductors or copper-clad aluminum conductors. What is the actual (not shipping) weight of the cables? 20 feet of two 4-gauge copper welding cables (40 feet total) should weigh about 7.2 lbs, and adding the weight of 4 clamps would make the total weight around 10 lbs if they are all copper. Depending on the type of aluminum used, copper-clad aluminum would weigh 2-3 lbs less.
