I installed this disconnect on a 2010 Jeep Wrangler that needs the battery unhooked while towing. It's also nice to use it during long periods of storage. I would have given it 5 stars but the picture displayed isn't what you get. The one pictured has a RED lever which I assumed would be installed on the POSITIVE post when in fact it actually has a BLACK handle and installs on the NEGATIVE post. This is actually a better idea to disconnect the NEGATIVE. It works perfectly well for what it's designed to do.

If I had a problem with the product it would be the base, it is a little flimsy
But not a deal breaker

We have a farm van we use as our workhorse at our property and this was exactly what we needed. It sits for weeks at a time without use and this makes it really easy to keep the battery in good condition without needing tools every time. It is a little flimsy, but works perfect ... just be gentle.

While the brass switch is strong the plastic base is cheap and flimsy. I had to take precautions to not break the base while installing it. I'm afraid the battery cable is going to break the switch into. The plastic base is very thin.

Comments about AutoCraft Top-Mount Battery Terminal Quick Disconnect Switch:

Delivers as advertised, but not very attractive for a classic car owner (ME). I will keep if for a car that the battery is not visible like behind a seat or in a trunk, but under the hood I will go with another device that is better looking. I bought one that has a screw knob and is much smaller. Again, this one works, but is not appropriate for a classic show car.

Requires sufficient room next to battery to install. Was not enough room next to the battery in my Mustang to install it. Am returning it. Looks very well constructed and heavy duty. Can change the post/lever to the other side to help fit. If you have plenty of room next to your negative ground would be a great item to have.

Hi there J! Happy to help with your question! This terminal should fit over your battery terminals with no problems. It is made of metal that is soft enough to be opened up if your terminals are larger than standard. It also has a nut and bolt fastener to clamp it down tightly.

                  A:

Happy to answer your question Lewis! You should be fine with it on the positive side but it can be changed to the negative side. The only advantage of having the quick disconnect on the negative side is when you connect the terminal you would get a arc from the connection, an arc may be an issue if you are in a area where flammable vapors are present.
