Comments about AutoCraft 1.5 Amp Battery Charger/Maintainer:

I purchased this item to used with my 12 battery in my Kawasaki Zephyr. I like the fact that it keeps my battery charged automatically so I don't have to worry about unplugging it. It has small light indicators to let you know when it is charging and when it has reached full charge. It works every time and is pretty small in size. It also came with quick plug wire so you can mount it to the battery and just plug it in and not worry about using the clamps. Very versatile and very efficient. A must have in your garage.

        • Q:

I have tried to use this new charger that I just bought on my 12 volt marine battery for days and the green light never comes on. Should I return it and get another new one? I have been using this type of battery and charger for over 10 years and never had a problem getting them to charge.

Hi Carole, I'm glad to assist you! The green LED lit indicates the battery is fully charged and the charger is in maintain mode. The red LED lit indicates that there is AC power supplied to the battery charger. The yellow LED lit indicates the charger is charging the battery. If red light lights up fine, and upon connection Yellow then Green light up but afterwards they turn off, is there something wrong with the battery? • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

Hi Malavekio, I'm glad to assist you! If you've connected everything correctly, the charger (yellow) LED should be lit, indicating that the charger is charging. If the CHARGING (yellow) LED does not light, check the connections or have the battery checked/replaced.

        • Q:

I use this charger to maintain a bike battery during the winter months. The charger worked perfectly the first year (2014-15). This time, though, when I connected the charger to the battery for the first time, it all went well and the charger's green light stayed on once the battery was charged. The second time, however, the yellow and the green lights blinked one after the other and it kept doing this until I disconnected the charger. I have disconnected and connected the charger time and time again, to no avail: still green-yellow-green-yellow...

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

Thank you for the question Ned. Green lit solid indicates charged, yellow lit solid indicates charging, yellow lit flashing indicates abort mode. If the charger does not work normally after disconnecting and reconnecting there may be an internal issue with the micro-processor. We suggest getting in touch with your local store in regards to warranty.

Can this charger be used on portable electric generator batteries? Generator is 15,000 watts with electric start

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

Hello Rick. Happy to help with your question. It will vary on the type of battery you use for your generator. This charger is used mostly on small 6-volt batteries typically used in motorcycles, ATVs ( All Terrain Vehicles), or ride in lawn mowers. If this is the style of battery you use on your generator then this charger can work for you.

        • Q:

Hi - I would like to use the AC-15CR to maintain a charge for the battery of an old station wagon when the vehicle is not in use (such as over the weekend or while on vacation). The vehicle is parked in an uncovered driveway. My plan is to leave this charger/maintainer under the hood of the vehicle and plug it in using an extension cord running from the garage. Is there a better way than that for use outdoors?

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

Yes, Deebo, this AutoCraft 1.5 Amp Battery Charger/Maintainer (Part No. AC-15CR/SEM-156) should work fine on your application. Instead of dragging out your conventional charger and cables, then putting everything away when finished. You can mount this small unit under your hood, plug in a small AC extension cord, and close the hood.

        • Q:

i bought this to maintain (float) charge on an RV battery (not as a charger). i connected to the new battery (standalone, not in RV) and when i plugged it in, the yellow light came on. after a bit the green light came on as expected. after a little while longer, the yellow light came back on for a brief moment then back to green. after that it appears to cycle between the yellow (short period) and green (longer period). is this correct operation? i thought once it went to green, it would stay green w/a small float current to keep it charged rather than going back to yellow charge cycle... tried advance auto chat help but they did not know....
