Comments about Airtex Fuel Pump Sender Assembly:

Purchased online and picked up at the store, the guys at the counter kept ignoring my presents, that is untill I got there attention. Took way to long to be helped with my order. As far as the fuel pump goes, installation was easy and stright forword.
The pump assy looked well built and my gas guage now works. Still to early to tell about the quality, I have read many bad reviews on these pumps I just hope I got a good one. Like I said, time will tell. For the money this wasnt a bad deal and I would recommend this Airtex to any one.

Comments about Airtex Fuel Pump Sender Assembly:

My engine (4.0) started hesitating 3 months ago when I'd try to accelerate above 60 mph. I suspected the fuel pump, but it appeared to "heal" itself after 3 weeks. Last Friday, it cranked, then stalled on me a 1/4 mi from home. Paid $65 for tow & $28 for diagnosis w/ a rubber mallet (the mechanic tapped the tank a few times & the truck started right-up) He said a new pump would cost $514 installed. I got the pump the same day, Friday, & installed it on Sunday. Listen, do not beat yourself up trying to drop the tank - I did that last year when I replaced the fuel inlet hose. I removed the 6 bolts that secure the 7 ft bed to the frame, removed the tailgate, unplugged the tail light harness and the 2 license plate lights. Then a neighbor helped me lift the bed off (set the bed upright on its front end). Now, you can access the pump directly & replace it within 15 min, no joke. By the way, my fuel gauge is working again, too. Got a 188,000 mi out of the original pump.

the sending unit shows incorrect fuel level.
from what i get from the manufactor is that the sending unit float arm should have been ship loose not attacted to the pump as it was which leave me to think that this product was sold returned to store and repackaged as new

Comments about Airtex Fuel Pump Sender Assembly:

I suspected my existing pump was failing because when I turned the key, sometimes I could not hear the pump priming. I bought this pump assembly and a fuel filter, and paid a local mechanic to install it. I was going to install it myself but didn't have time. After installation, the priming problem is gone, and as a bonus, my fuel gauge started working again. Subsequently, I changed the plugs and plug wires, and now my 1991 Ranger is running great. I completely rely on the quality parts I get from Advance.
