Check Vehicle Fit

The AEM 21-408P Performance Cold Air Intake System produces horsepower and torque gains by replacing your vehicle’s restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing. This air intake system was designed, tuned and dyno-tested to fit specific Honda Accord models. Air enters the system through an oversized AEM Dryflow synthetic washable air filter for outstanding air flow, filtration and performance. The air filter is relocated to the passenger-side wheel well which is designed to reduce intake air temperature and increase horsepower. The intake tubing is constructed from mandrel-bent aluminum featuring a durable chrome-like finish. This air intake system was developed to accommodate the engine’s factory emissions control devices including a replacement engine breather hose and water bypass hose. The tapered cylinder shaped AEM Dryflow air filter is made from an oil-free, synthetic filter media that can be used for up to 100,000 miles before cleaning is needed (depending on driving conditions). The air intake system is backed by AEM's Lifetime Limited Warranty. Some AEM air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards, while others are 50 state legal. View the 21-408P vehicle applications to determine the legal status for each vehicle.

This part AEM Induction Cold Air Intake System part# 21-408P is an exact fit for your 1997 Honda Accord EX 2.2L engine. To install this on your vehicle park the vehicle on a level surface. Firmly set the emergency brake and take the keys out of the ignition. Using a socket wrench, disconnect both battery terminals, removing the negative cable first. Allow the car to cool down if the engine has been run within the last two hours. Unlock the tabs on each side of the factory air box. Unplug the cables from the mass air flow and intake air temperature sensors. Using a flat-head screwdriver, loosen the hose clamp from the intake tube connected to the throttle body. Remove the tube. Take the entire intake assembly out of the engine bay. Plug the connectors that were previously removed into the wiring harness on the AEM intake. Connect the cone filter to the end of the AEM intake using one of the included metal hose clamps. Attach the other end of the intake to the throttle body opening using one of the same clamps. Tighten both down firmly with a screwdriver. Secure the wiring connected to the intake with one of the included zip ties. Place the cables back on the battery and tighten them down with a socket wrench. This AEM Induction Cold Air Intake System (Part No. 21-408P) is an exact fit for your 1997 Honda Accord EX. Installation instructions: 1. Compare the number of vacuum hoses in your vehicle to the number of holes on the cold air intake pipe. If there are more holes than hoses, plug the extra holes with the grommets that came with your kit. 2. Attach the silicone coupling that came with the cold air intake kit to the throttle body. 3. Secure the coupling by tightening a hose clamp at the end. 4. Place another hose clamp on the front of the coupling, but do not tighten it. 5. Slide the intake tube into the silicone coupling. 6. Notice any mounting obstacles your tube may encounter. Your intake pipe should be running from the throttle bay away from the engine bay. 7. Tighten the second hose clamp on the silicone coupling and secure all the brackets on the tube. Make sure the intake tube is tightly secured to avoid rattling. 8. Plug the mass air flow sensor into the new cold air intake system. 9. Reconnect the battery terminal and close the hood. 10. Turn on the vehicle to check whether the engine is idling smoothly.
