Just an ordinary can of R134a refrigerant. Use this if you're not sure what the blend is for your R134a labeled A/C system. I don't think it contains sealants or oil based on signage and price. Perfect for a recharge.

Comments about Advance Auto Parts 12 oz. Can R-134a Refrigerant:

if you have a set of guages and basic ac knowledge it is very easy to top off your refridgerant or refill after replacing defective ac components, no frills in the red and white can just r134a. and thats what I needed to get the job done. there are other products that have oil added and also synthetics. it is important to not mix refridgerants. My advise is if you want to use the synthetic stuff drain the system preferably by filling an evacuation container. purge it nitrogen and then fill with the synthetic. I would not add synthetic to standard 134a.

I don't think your system take more than 2 lbs, there may be a tag under the hood that tell the capacity of your system. Also, when it come to repair and maintenance i would suggest you to follow the instructions of your vehicle owner's manual.

With reference to your question, Advance Auto Parts 12 oz. Can R-134a Refrigerant - Part No. A1300/012R134AA, when a system looses charge, it also looses the oil, because the refrigerant carries the oil with it--there will, however, always be some liquid oil left over. Drain out the oil from the old compressor, and add approximately the same amount of PAG oil to the new compressor. This is important to prevent burning up the compressor. The PAG oil charge supplied in the retrofit kit actually contains sufficient oil for the whole system, but It is my opinion that its better not to run the compressor dry, even if for only a few moments. Only add at most a couple of ounces of PAG to the compressor, too much can be as bad as not enough! Once the compressor is installed and the lines are attached, use a socket to turn the clutch hub clockwise about 15 revolutions. This will properly lubricate the compressor. You don't want too much oil in there, though, as this is bad too-just use good judgment. With reference to your inquiry on the Advance Auto Parts 12 oz. Can R-134a Refrigerant -part# A1300/012R134AA, you would need to use a retrofit kit to convert R12 system to R134a system for using this R-134a Refrigerant on your 1988 Ford Mustang GT. However, It is advised that a Section 609 of EPA Standards mechanic be the only one to perform anything with that type of system [r12] as well as r134a due to its effects on the environment. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified A/C mechanic for a proper diagnosis. For any further assistance, you may also call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.
