I work on my own car and use this tool to diagnose potential problems. It can also be used to remove your check engine light. It does not display data other than the code for that issue, so if your wanting live data or more extensive explanations of the issue you will need a more advanced reader. It does not have a feature to show data via usb to pc so this is something I'd personally like to have, but for the price I can certainly understand why it does not. Once again this is as basic as they come. One feature I did like about this reader is that it runs from the power of the vehicle so no additional power source is needed.

Comments about Actron Pocket Scan Code Reader:

Picked this scanner up at the store and tried it on the car I was driving before leaving the store. The scanner had display powered when connected but kept showing connection failure so I returned it and got the next higher model Actron CP9160 scanner and that worked just fine. The store did not have another model CP9125 so I still don't know if they will work.

Comments about Actron Pocket Scan Code Reader:

Read the existing reviews good for my purpose to move a problem car by clearing an intermittent "Check Engine" light. Tried this scanner on another car I was driving in the store parking lot when I picked it up and although it powered up I kept getting "No Link" displayed after multiple restarts and reconnects. Took this CP9125 back into the store and tried their scanner on my car which worked fine. They did not have another CP9125 so I returned this and purchased an upgrade Actron CP9660 Pocketscan Plus which works just fine plus having a few extra useful functions such as "View Data" and that helped me move and repair the other cars problem. So if you get this CP9125 model just try when you buy to make sure it works.

Saves you the cost of paying a mechanic to find out why the Check Engine Light is on. Some Check Engine Lights will stay on for a long time after the problem has been fixed unless erased. With the Pocket Scan, you can erase it.

Comments about Actron Pocket Scan Code Reader:

I bought this to check on a code my Rubicon was showing. It did a good job but I wanted more. So I will be returning it for one that offers more information about the codes it's reading.

Also the information shown on the display about the cars sensors, I forget the official terminology, is OK but hard to understand.

If you're looking for a basic scanner then this is a good choice and a reasonable value. Make sure you have a pen and paper to write down the code because you're going to have to look it up on Google to know what it means.

My car: 2000 Toyota Camry CE.
Problem: Pesky Check Engine Light (CEL).
Solution: Actron Pocket Scan CP9125C able to show me the problem codes and also to clear them. (Problem is not serious.)
Comments: Actron CP9125C is easy to use. Instructions are adequate.
Step 4 says to "Start engine" but you don't do that if all you want is to read codes. There's a note before step 4 that tells you when to start engine and when to just put ignition key to ON position. For step 4, I would say instead "Turn ignition key to ON position or start engine depending on what you want to do. Then put note under step 4.

Hi Old man, I'm glad to assist you. For a correct reading for Diagnostic Trouble Codes and I/M Monitor Status, ignition key must be in the ON position and Engine does
not require starting. To get a correct reading for MIL Status, Engine must be started.
