I work on my own car and use this tool to diagnose potential problems. It can also be used to remove your check engine light. It does not display data other than the code for that issue, so if your wanting live data or more extensive explanations of the issue you will need a more advanced reader. It does not have a feature to show data via usb to pc so this is something I'd personally like to have, but for the price I can certainly understand why it does not. Once again this is as basic as they come. One feature I did like about this reader is that it runs from the power of the vehicle so no additional power source is needed.

Comments about Actron Pocket Scan Code Reader:

I have bought (2) of these units. Easy to use, easy to clear engine light. Code explanations are vague. Good in a pinch when you want to clear engine light before an inspection. Drive at least 40-50 miles after clearing before bringing in for inspection.

My 2009 Honda CRV had a flashing "D" and engine light on. This code reader identified code P0843, which was a transmission fluid pressure sensor problem. It took $35 and 1 hour of time to resolve the problem. This device is very handy.

Purchased this to replace my outdated Actron code reader, which wouldn't read 2006 and newer OBDII codes. Does the job just fine, as long as you can use your google machine to search for the problems associated with the code it spits out.

Hello MADDOGG! The tool would read the Global OBD II engine emissions information but will not read the Diesel specific information or transmission information. This would require a more advanced professional scan tool to access.
