Actron Compression Tester Kit

Part No. CP7827 Warranty
This Actron compression tester kit from detects worn rings, burnt valves and blown head gaskets. A push-button side release valve is included which allows repeated compression testing without disconnecting.

Product Features:
  • Quick-release hose disconnects from gauge for faster, easier use
  • Uses Standard and metric scales: 0-300 lbs psi and 0-2100 KPa
  • 17 inch high-pressure flexible oil-and grease-resistance hose
  • 14mm and 18mm ends fit most spark plug openings

Avoid such issues as engine damage, poor gas mileage, performance problems, and high repair costs by using a diagnostic tool from Actron when your check engine light turns on. There are three common types of diagnostic tools that can help you in determining an issue when your check engine light is on:

A Scan Tool can be used to read and erase trouble codes, display, record and play back LIVE diagnostic data and perform other tests allowed by the vehicle maker. We have scan tools that cover vehicles 1982 to present depending on required coverage. All Actron Scan Tools are CAN compliant.

A Code Reader can be used to read and erase diagnostic trouble codes as well as other additional features depending on the tool. These tools work on all vehicles 1996 and newer. All Actron Code Readers are CAN compliant.

A Code Scanner reads diagnostic trouble codes generated by the vehicle's system. Codes are displayed on the vehicle's dashboard and/or identified through audio prompts. These products work with 1981-1995 vehicles.

Comments about Actron Compression Tester Kit:

i bought this tester around 2 years ago. i have used it on 4 vehicles with ok results. although i did notice that it didnt give the most accurate reading unless you cranked it down as hard as you could. but then on the 5th vehicle i used it, when i went to remove the tester from the spark plug hole, it would not unscrew. turns out the hose was just spinning in the fitting. i had to cut the hose off as close to the fitting i could get it, then shave down a pair of needle nose pliers to be able to reach in and grabe what was left and turn it out. huge pain. i am lucky that i did get it out and didnt have to remove the head. i would recomend that you buy a better quality one than this if you are going to use it more than once or twice...

Works fine, but you might need to get a tube extention if your spark plugs are resesed at all. Otherwise you might have a problem treading it in and getting a good seal.

Comments about Actron Compression Tester Kit:

This product is absolutely spot on accurate. It's extremely durable as well. The hose construction is nice, and the o-rings are well fitted. A dab of loctite blue on the threads of the adapter to hose connection, left to cure for about two minutes, eliminates the possibility of the connector becoming stuck in the head. It's the best out there, especially in this price range.

Comments about Actron Compression Tester Kit:

Got into trouble with Toyota engine with plugs buried deep in heads, 6-8" down a hole. Kick the engineer that thought that was a practical idea. Gathers oil, water, dirt down the hole from which you pull out the plug.

But this compression tester had no way to tighten in the plug hole except by twisting the hose - not much torque there. Good seal? I hope so.

Oh but if you didn't connect the extension piece on good, the extension stays firmly in the hole but the hose comes undone. Took :25 frustrating minutes trying to figure out how to get the extension out. Finally found a socket that would barely grab it to unbolt, then still had to fish it out. Nearly had to remove the head.

Again: bad engine design, plus barely-passable tool design. We were lucky (creative). Warning: be sure the extension is on tighter than you expect the tester-in-the-plug-hole will be. Is it really that hard to design an engine where the plugs are accessible?

              • Q:

where can I get a replacement soft-spring schrader valve? If you use a standard tire valve core, it gives you an incorrect low reading because the spring is too strong and resists the compression pressure. The valve was damaged when the cylinder fired on a two sparkplug-per-cylinder nissian engine.
