Comments about ACI Window Lift Motor:

Motor was an exact replacement for the window motor in my truck. It even came with rivets which I did not use. I put the regulator back on with 1/4x20 bolts and locknuts. Be sure to LOCK the regulator movement with a clamp when removing the assembly from the door. You need to remove the regulator on my truck to remove the motor. I didn't clamp the regulator, and when I released the last rivet, the spring in the mechanism released its tension. I'm blessed that I didn't suffer an injury for that mistake.

            A:

I'm happy to help, Bruce! The window lift motor for your 1985 Chevrolet Corvette 5.7L V8 could be replaced by this ACI Window Lift Motor (Part No. 82979) if your vehicle uses the scissor style regulator. This style replaced the original ribbon style regulator that was used on the vehicle from 1984-1986. The 12 tooth design is for the ribbon style regulator.

The use of the same part number for both sides on the 12 tooth design is correct. The scissor style requires two different part numbers for the left and right. The scissor style design was implemented in 1986 for the 1987 model year.

            A:

If you can get ahold of the window you can try pulling it up manually, but you may need to wedge something in the frame to keep the window from falling down until the repairs can be made.

        • Q:

where do i purchase the metal rivets that fasten this motor? if i do not have the rivets, can i use something else? how do i remove the existing rivets?
Asked on 11/19/2009 by StuckInSand from OBX, NC

          1 answer

          • A:

you can get them from home depot, an auto parts store or dealer. You can't save the existing rivets because you have to drill them out to get the old motor out.
