Comments about ACDelco Evaporative Emission Canister Solenoid:

This canister is an AC Delco, exactly the same part number as installed from the factory; hence no worry about passing emissions tests. It's pretty easy to replace. It slides onto the tube coming from the tank. There are two ways to unlatch it:
          1) Squeeze the ring on the sides away from the latches. The ring will become oval and the latches will pull away from the tube so the canister can slide off.
          2) Pull the canister so the latches are tight. Slide a small screwdriver under one latch and pop it over the retainer. Then same thing with the other one.

The factory canisters fail at about 100K miles, so the replacements should last about the same time.

Hi Steve, I'm glad to assist you! The Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve is located in the EVAP canister, above the rear of the muffler in many models of Chevrolet Malibu. However, I recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to locate, repair or replace specific parts.

It is located under the spare tire in the rear of the vehicle. Remove the tire to get access to it. Also its pretty much plug and go so the job should take you under 30 mins.
