With reference to your query on Accel Super Coil - (Part No. 140003), the green wire from the tachometer plug into the C- post of the coil (the same post that goes to the yellow wire of the coil). Ideally, you should also change/clean your plugs (and maybe wires) at this time(Ignition coil change) since the plugs are likely fouled due to poor combustion/misfire.

To enhance the performance of your 1981 Chevrolet K20 while replacing the ignition coil, it is recommended to replace the Air Filter, Fuel Filter, Oil Filter, Spark plugs, Distributor Cap, Distributor Rotor and Ignition Wires.

First you need to find out the firing order, that is which plug fires first and in what order the others follow.. Car handbook will tell you. Then get No1 Cylinder on the power stroke by turning engine by hand.Whilst doing this check which way the distributor turns.. You should feel compression with the plug out.The rotor arm should be pointing to no 1 cylinder segment on the cap. Connect the lead to the cap and mark it No1 with Tipex. Then connect the other leads in the firing order marking each lead. Fit cap and start up.
