I have over 270,000 miles on my 2002 Pontiac Aztek and over the years and miles the refrigerant has gradually escaped. I have charged many cars back in the "old days" of R-12, but I seldom work on cars anymore and I have never charged a system that uses R-134a until now.

It is very easy to use, even for someone who knows little about cars. This will work on any vehicle that uses R-134a, it will NOT work on older vehicles that use R-12. I appreciate the long braided hose as the service port is tough to get to and located between the front exhaust manifold (hot) and the fan (moving). If you have such a vehicle I suggest putting the hose on and taking it off with the engine not running (although you must have the engine running and air conditioning on in order to charge it).

One thing I should note: If your low side service port is on a suction accumulator (aluminum tank near the firewall), you should not have a problem. However, if your low side service port is on the suction line feeding directly into the compressor (like mine) I suggest keeping the can upright whenever the trigger is pulled. Shake the can vigorously before connecting and shake it while charging.

My air conditioning works like new again!

Tried it on my 2009 Ford F150 - gauge didn't work at first but didn't know it at the time - once the gauge started working, I had already overcharged the AC. Had to take it to a mechanic to fix it - he had to remove 3 ounces of freon. Had plenty left in the can so I decided to try it on my 2003 Nissan Altima - Worked GREAT. Coolest air in that vehicle since we purchased it. I would recommend the product but I would also make sure the gauge worked. It was very simple to do and very pleased at the cold air it provided IMMEDIATELY in the Nissan Altima. It even cools now when sitting still which it hasn't done in years. Give it a try.

Comments about AC Pro Professional Formula Refrigerant with Gauge and Hose (20 oz.):

I used this product to correct my A/C system which was not getting as cool as it used to. The system worked for a day or so then quit working. I attributed this to a more extensive problem. I took it to my mechanic, told him what the problem was and what I had done and he told me that because that the "sealant" used in the product "contaminates" the vehicles system as well as their system that my entire A/C system would have to be replaced. When I contacted A/C Pro regarding the above issues I had with their product and my mechanic's comments. I received two responses almost immediately accusing my mechanic of being dishonest. I also contacted two other independent automotive repair shops who said basically the same thing. The "sealant" in this product contaminates their equipment. As I stated above A/C Pro did not break my A/C system. It was apparently broken in such a way that this product (or any other DIY product) would not have fixed the problem. What it did do, is cause me to have to replace the entire system including compressor, all hoses and lines, evaporator coil and multiple other items to the tune of over $3,000.00 due to the system contamination. I would highly recommend against using this product in your vehicle.

So I put a lot of miles on my 2013 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL and ran out of air condition. I tried to turn it on today (BTW it is 90+ degrees outside) and it just blew nothing but hot air. Nissan told me they would take care of the issue for a nice $150 + tax but I was hesitant to do that. Instead, I went to Advance Auto Parts and bought the AC Pro after consulting with one of the employees. They walked me through how to install everything. Now I will admit I am not very good with an engine, but even for someone as novice as myself, this is very easy. After a good 5 minutes, my car was blowing cold air and my air conditioning was back to normal.

This was very simple to use and my AC in my 2008 Prius was back chilling in less than 10 minutes. This saved me a few bucks along with the gas and inconvenience of having my local trusted shop take care of it. It will also delay the big ticket expense that I have been quoted from several shops to replace components. I have a small leak in the system and was a bit hesitant about using the product but the Advanced Auto employee talked me through it. Hopefully this charge will last another several months and I still have plenty refrigerant left in the can for next time.

I bought the 2007 Civic in Nov and didn't think to check the A/C. When I turned it on in April it blew hot air. The dealer, Midas and Meineke all wanted $140 to recharge the system! I checked DIY recharging products online and picked AC Pro. I watched their video = evrything was clearly described. The only problem I had was determinig if the compressor was on. On the Civic it was hidden deep down in the engine compartment. The pressure readin was 0. I went ahead and charged it. Took 5 min and I was done.

I have a leak in my Navigator's A/C. I have tried to get it fixed professional at three different Lincoln dealership but they were unable to find the leak and kept putting freon without a fix. I got tired of spending between $200 - $300 every year to put freon in the a/c. I just found out about A/C Pro and decided to save myself some money and purchased this product. I was pleasantly surprised. My a/c is now blowing cold again and it was quite easy to do this.

The bottom line is this product made a big difference in the cooling effectiveness of the A/C system in my 97 Escort. It was easy to use, with this caveat: WATCH THE VIDEO FIRST. The directions were not quite explicit enough for me, probably because this was the first time I had ever done any work on an A/C system. The video filled in all the gaps and answered all the questions I had. First timers need not be worried about something going wrong, as it appears the system is well-conceived, designed and executed with the novice in mind.

I picked up a AC Pro recharge kit after my 2002 Nissan Frontier started having trouble cooling when the ambient temperature got above 80°. I have to say, this is by far the best R-134a recharge kit that I have ever used. For starters, the gauge is very accurate and even includes a temperature calibration dial. Also, the hose used in the kit is extra long which gives you plenty of slack to shake/stir the can as you are charging the system. After a quick charge, my truck is back to blowing ice cold air...even with temperatures currently in the 90s.

Yes, Mike! This AC Pro Professional Formula Refrigerant with Gauge and Hose (20 oz.) - Part No. ACP-100N/ACP-10 should be used a 2008 Dodge Nitro R/T 4.0, unless it is a Hybrid vehicle. And yes, AC Pro has a 24 inch braided hose for accessing hard to reach service ports. Attach the quick coupler fitting on end of recharge hose to the low pressure port (only port it will fit on to) by pulling the connector ring back as you push the fitting on to the low pressure port.

Hi Kristy! For window units they use different types of refrigerant so we wouldn't be able to tell you what you would need. Your best option would be to refer to your owner's manual and go from there. Depending on the type of refrigerant it takes you may not be able to buy it on your own. Some refrigerants can only be sold so someone that is licensed. I understand your situation just keep that in mind.

Happy to help you None! The low side recharge port is not located under the hood. You cannot get at the low-side port from the engine compartment on this vehicle. The receiver-dryer is mounted beneath the fender directly below the right front headlight bulb and about 6-inches in front of the right front tire. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ET2HeuRV6pU shows the location and even use of a similar product.
