  • Q:

Hi! I don't know a lot about cars. DUH.LOL I have a 1996 BMW Z3 Roadster with the original A/C system (which is not working. Had a leak and probably now empty). I *assume* it's R-12? If so, will this kit successfully convert it over so I can use R-134A? Seems from reading that I may need a kit with more parts in it from another source you have mentioned to others here? I'll be thrilled if you can provide me info so I can do this myself with my buddy who is good at car mechanics! Thanks in advance! Kathy on OBX

      A:

I'm happy to help, Brad! This AC Pro A/C Pro RECHARGE & RETROFIT KIT - Part No. ACP-110 is universal and does not have any applications associated with it. This kit does not include all of the necessary parts to fully retrofit your air conditioning system to R-134a. It has two cans of refrigerant and the hose that connects to an R-134a system. To recharge the system, you'll need to have the proper fittings for the line to connect to. Also, make sure that you have the refrigerant that is in your vehicle recovered to ensure that it is not released into the air. Intentional releasing of R-12 into the air is a violation of federal law. Interdynamics has two kits available that include fittings, refrigerant and oil. Part No. 323 and Part No. RKR-8.
