        A:

With reference to your inquiry on the BWD EGR Valve - Part No. EGR1092 the rough idling and light flickering issues on your 1995 Cadillac are a result of dirty throttle body, bad spark plugs or wires or bad EGR. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem. For any further assistance please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

    • Q:

how do you remove egrvalve from a 98cad.eld.etc.

        A:

The EGR valve in a 98 Cadillac Eldorado is located underneath the spark plug wire cover near the rear bank of the engine. You will have to move the spark plug wire cover, you do not have to completely take it off. Just lift it up and lay it sideways on top of the engine. Now you need to unbolt the EGR valve. To do this, you will need a ratchet with an extension, and a 10mm socket. Once you know the bolts are unscrewed all the way, do not try to remove them. Instead remove the whole EGR valve with the bolts still in the holes. This will prevent you from dropping and loosing the bolts. On the bottom of the valve you will see two holes, one that is plugged with what appears to be a screw and one that is open. The screw like object is the valve. You should be able to press it in easily and when you let it go, it should close itself again (it's spring loaded).

    • Q:

Does this have anything to do with the theft system on a Cadillac DeVille?
      Asked on 1/24/2012 by Anonymous

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

The EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Exhaust gas is routed back into the combustion chamber because the exhausted air is much hotter than the intake air. By sending warmer gas into the combustion chamber, the air/fuel mix does not have to do as much work to heat up, and your engine runs more efficiently. So, it has nothing to do with theft system on a Cadillac DeVille.

    • Q:

what is this part used for
Asked on 5/6/2011 by herb from houston,tx

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

The EGR valve controls a small passageway between the intake and exhaust manifolds. When the valve opens, intake vacuum draws exhaust through the valve.
