They say that it won't fit an 87 5.0 H.O. but i have done just that and it fits almost stock. You just have to run a bigger power wire do to the power output, but it is an all around great alternator. The more electical power you have the more the spark you get to the plugs and ignition system which means you get more horse power.

I purchased this alternator due to the on-line sale & free shipping. Saved some $$$$ compared to other retailers. I have not used it as I installed it on a project car that is not running yet. With the lifetime warranty, I can get one anywhere if it fails, unlike an after-market 1 wire alternator. Appears to be well built.

This is a great product for everyday use. It is kinda heavy, but a definite improvement for my '95 cobra. I would recommend this to beginners as it is easy to install.

Tech Tip #546:
Ford internally regulated alternators must be installed with a FULLY CHARGED battery to operate properly. Allowing this alternator to operate with a discharged battery will cause the alternator to overheat, possibly damaging it. On all systems, BAT terminals and "A" terminal must have battery voltage at all times. In addition, vehicles with indicator lamps must have at least 10 volts at the l. Vehicles without indicator lamps must have 12 volts at the S terminal. Note the samll regulator plug is a frequent cause of bad connections.
