  • Q:

Please Answer by e-mail only. How much have the journals on the crankshaft in this kit been ground, 001.?,002.?,005.?,010.?,020.?,030.?,040.?,060.(min-max)? What is the limit crankshaft re-builders will grind a shaft before discarding it as useless? May I request a specific tolerance? Has the crankshaft end play been checked while in a test block? Has the "Thrust facing area" been ground any differently then the rod and main journals? Will the rod and main journals be ground the same? If not, will all the rod journals be the same? Will all the main journals be the same if different then the rod journals? Will the oil passage openings be deburred? Are these crankshafts reground from original GM castings? Does this shaft maintain the original manufacturers balancing by being machined equally from each end? Will the packaging contain a postage paid return container for the core? Finally, will the crankshaft journals and bearings be marked in case future bearing replacement is necessary?

With reference to this Crankshaft Rebuilders Crankshaft Kit - part# 12320, You will not know until you purchase, it will tell you on the actual box for how much have the journals on the crankshaft in this kit been ground. 40 thousandth (max) is the limit crankshaft re-builders will grind a shaft before discarding it as useless. They have OE tolerance and part will be within that range. The crankshaft end play has not been checked while in a test block. All rod journals will be the same, if rods are a 10 all the rods will be a 10, if rod is 20 all rods will be 20 etc. "Thrust facing area" is not been ground differently, only difference is using side of the rock vs. the face of the rock.
