DO YOU NEED TO DO ANYTHING ELSE TO THE BRAKE WHEN CHANGING THEM.

          A:

A few things you can do to help with the pads seating to the rotors properly is scuffing them up. If you scrape the brake pads up against concrete to get rid of the glaze that is on them. If the rotors do not need to be turned. you can take some sand paper to both sides of them and remove the glaze that usually is formed during breaking. Also, don't forget to clean all parts thoroughly and grease all applicable parts.

          A:

It is recommended that you have your rotors "turned" on a brake lathe, although if you are replaceing them before they have caused rotor damage you can just replace them without having the rotors surfaced. To get the mamimun braking potential from the pads you really should have them turned. Your Advanced Auto Parts store can provide this service in most cases. Additionally you should apply some pad gel to the backs along with a thin film of grease to the slider that the caliper rests upon. This lubricant can also be purchased at your Advanced Auto Parts Store.
