Have had 5 of these batteries before. This is my 6th and it has lasted 1.5 years. Vehicle no longer starts in temps below 45 degrees. Advance says there is an issue but will not replace it is marginally failing, not totally failing . Optima says it is on Advance to replace. Up to the Regional VP on the contact list to get someone to honor the 3 year free replacement. So warning to buyers. If it does not totally failing you will not receive any help from Advance to Optima to get it replaced.

I use this type of battery because in my Wrangler the battery needs to set at an angle because of the custom fenders.

Comments about Optima Batteries RedTop Starting Battery:
This is, hands down, the best battery for your hard earned dollars. I bought my first Optima Red Top in June 2004. It is still in my car and hasn't let me down. Ever. I live in Buffalo, NY, so even during the hardest winters, it still cranks every time. Even two years ago, the ambient air temperature was -18*F and it started right up.
It has lasted through 3 vehicles. I even used it to drive my buddies truck home with no alternator.
I have one in all three of my vehicles. You never want to be left stranded anywhere.
Always buy a good battery.

Comments about Optima Batteries RedTop Starting Battery:
I bought this battery in March to replace my third dead Everstart Maxx in the course of just over a year on my 2002 Crown Victoria LX and so far I have been extremely pleased with it.
The car starts a lot quicker than any of my Everstarts did and combined with the upgrade to the Ford 6th generation alternator(98-02 Police standard) I also did to replace my 4th generation w/ bad bearing, it has a much higher output both in gear and idling. No more extra slow windows and no more low battery light either when I just put the key in run and the amp indicator is also never below the lower bracket on the gauge at any point like it almost always was with the Everstarts in run
The only problem I had is that I had to make sure the hold-down bracket was as tight as possible over this smaller battery since it was sliding around under the bracket a little bit at first; height-wise it fits about the same as any Group 65 battery without any adapters/insulation but it has a less wide mounting surface that doesn't get gripped by the bracket quite as well, but all it takes is some right turns on the adjusting nut on the hold-down bracket to make it tighter on the surface it does have and then the battery holds still in its new home, no problem really. As for the fit at the base, they include some snap-on adapters in the box for several common larger sizes of battery, such as one for the Group 65 battery size that the Crown Victoria and many other Fords normally take which is a wider battery than a 34, so now the battery fits like a glove and stays put and I couldn't be happier with it.

Comments about Optima Batteries RedTop Starting Battery:
Optima batteries are the only batteries that last in the Arizona heat. 5 plus years. Other type batteries last about 2 years. Optima is the only battery I use as a replacement. Cracking power is excellent.

CUSTOMER CARE
A:
This Optima Batteries RedTop Starting Battery, Group Size 34, 800 CCA part# 34-980 has 3 year free replacement warranty. Free Replacement Period begins the day of purchase and expires at the end of the Free Replacement Period printed on your original sales receipt. This period does not renew when the battery is replaced during the Free Replacement Period. If the battery becomes defective after the Free Replacement Period and prior to the end of the warranty period, the warranty benefit will be prorated and can either be credited toward the purchase of a new battery or refunded at our option. The proration amount shall be determined by dividing the purchase price by the number of months of the warranty period, then multiplying the result by the months remaining in the warranty period. Partial months are rounded to the nearest whole month. Installation of an automotive battery in any other type of vehicle or equipment voids your warranty.Q:
what is the difference between the red top and the yellow top?2 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
The only difference between the yellow and red top is that the yellow top has an extra 20 minutes of reserve capacity.A:
The red top is a starting battery only, the yellow top is a starting and deep cycle battery. If you have aftermarket electrics such as extra lights or a winch, or run accessories without engine power, the yellow top is recommended. Stock vehicles use the red top.Q:
