The coolant temperature sensor on your 2001 Dodge Durango should be located in the front of the motor or intake manifold and the intake air temperature sensor should be located in the right side of the throttle body on the valve cover. Yes, if your coolant temperature sensor is bad means then your engine run too rich (to much gas, not enough air) and it will run rough at idle and definitely have black smoke, it will make your engine stall.
