My Jeep blower had gone to that 2 position place of high or off, the latter being the least useful. A quick internet search revealed this as the culprit.

Two important notes: Do not just plug this in and try it. It needs to be bolted into the heater box. You will blow the thermal fuse. The thermal fuse can be purchased at Radio hut.

if your fan speed has been gradually not working on lower speeds, and working on the high speed, this part will probably fix it. some problems on GMC envoy and jeep cherokee, replacing heater fan blower resister fixed both.

My 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport's AC/Heater Fan would only work on high speed. I did a little research and narrowed the problem down to the BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR. I ordered this part from Advance Auto.com [...] It only took me about 5 minutes to install this part. It fixed the problem, now all speeds work on the blower/fan.

The blower motor resistor assembly is located to the right of the blower motor. The blower motor is located in the engine compartment on the passenger side of the firewall.

This is under the glove compartment inside the car.
Take away the glove box via 4 screws, lower and remove
glove box. Now remove the plastic covering under the
glove box area, around where your feet would kick it
as sitting in passenger seat. you will see a connector
with two 8 millimeter bolts. just remove the connector
and 2 bolts, the resistor will just fall away. if it's
bad it will be falling apart on the backside of it.
mine was corroded. Get a new one and install. Easy.
