Not only are strut mounts a necessary component of the suspension system, they consist of rubber to metal bonded parts that wear out over time as well. Worn bearings may also cause noise, steering binding, vibration and vehicle pull. I have a 1997 Nissan,my strut is fine. I'm driving down the road and here a noise on the drivers side. It sounds like a knocking noise every time I hit a bump in the road.Can anyone tell me,If this could be the strut mount?

With reference to your inquiry on the Monroe Strut-Mate Strut Mounting Kit - Part No. 903910, the knocking noise on the driver's side during bumps is caused by various factors like: bad CV joints, bad Shocks or Struts or bad Shaft rod. What exactly is that black circular disk in the picture, and what does it do???
Secondly, does this mounting kit have a roller or ball-bearing inside the strut mount or insulator?

The small disc like part is an upper shock rod isolator and it seats into the lower bushing of the upper shock mount. The Monroe Strut-Mate Strut Mounting Kit (Part No. 903910) comes with a strut support bearing in the strut mount.
