Those who claim not to know what temp it opens at do realize that there's a "Specifications" Tab that you can open up, clearly saying its a 160.
Some people's kids, I tell you.
Comments about Mr. Gasket High-Performance Thermostat, 160 Degrees Fahrenheit:
google the mr. gasket website... then put the part number in.... it's a 160°F thermostat. There. Now everybody knows.
I guess I could have just written another review about how I don't know what this part is. But that wouldn't help anyone (including myself).

Comments about Mr. Gasket High-Performance Thermostat, 160 Degrees Fahrenheit:
One would assume that its 160 degrees because it says "Performance" and since the OEM/Standard is 186 degrees you would think this one would be a lower temp like 160.

Q:
can car run without thermostat?3 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Any liquid-cooled car engine has a small device called the thermostat that sits between the engine and the radiator. Its job is to block the flow of coolant to the radiator until the engine has warmed up. When the engine is cold, no coolant flows through the engine. Once the engine reaches its operating temperature (generally about 200 degrees F, 95 degrees C), the thermostat opens. By letting the engine warm up as quickly as possible, the thermostat reduces engine wear, deposits and emissions.A:
Yes, but it will not heat up properly in the winter time when you need heat from your heater.A:
i would not recomend not using a rhermostat theres nothing to restrict it to the radiator so it will not cool down correctly and it will flow constinatly the coolant will still be hot. ive done this before and it doesent work you need a thermostat in it. the car actually overheated.Q:
