Comments about BWD Ignition Starter Switch:

Product was exactly what was described. It's an ignition switch for ford products. Came with new torx screws to replace the original ones in case you strip them out trying to remove them. It bolted right up and did what it was supposed to do.

                    A:

The ignition switch on your 1997 Ford F-150 should be mounted on the right side of the steering column. In order to replace ignition switch, disconnect the battery and remove the steering wheel. There is a round slot in the steering column, if you insert a rod in there it will release the switch. For any further assistance please feel free to call us at 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto store and one of our representatives will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

If the switch goes bad, will it cause the radio to stay on even after the vehicle is turned off? Also the wipers stop working and then will work if you try and turn on the radio. Sometimes when you cut off the vehicle, the ventilation will run.

                    A:

The term ignition switch is often used interchangeably to refer to two very different parts: the lock cylinder into which the key is inserted, and the electronic switch that sits just behind the lock cylinder. In some cars, these two parts are combined into one unit, but in other cars they remain separate. It is advisable to check your car's shop manual before attempting to purchase an ignition switch, to ensure that you buy the correct part.
