Comments about National Axle Repair Bearing:

This product fixes the axle wear problem from stock bearing. It relocates the bearing farther out and rides on an undamaged part of the axle. I'm getting consistently 2 mpg better mileage after fixing this bearing.

            A:

With reference to your inquiry on the National Axle Repair Bearing - part# RP-5707, replacing the axle bearing depends on the skill level of whoever is removing or replacing the part. Some may have a harder time than others who have experience. I would recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts. For any further assistance, you may also call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

            A:

With reference to your inquiry on the National Axle Repair Bearing - part# RP-5707, without the presence of the vehicle we could neither diagnose the problem nor provide you with a 100% answer. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis of what amp alternator you have before installing any alternator which would not be the required one for your vehicle. • Q:

How Much radial play should a 2010 Ford F150 Crew Cab 4X4 have on rear axle bearings? The Ford dealer said mine is normal it has 1/16th of an inch up and down movement at the tire?
Asked on 4/20/2012 by Roger from Woodlawn TN

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

You will have to check both the sideways (horizontal or radial play) or vertically (axial or up-and-down play). A joint that has more than .050 in. of vertical play doesn't necessary require replacement because the specs range from zero play to as much as .125 inch of play. Sideways is allowed upto .250 inch. The radial play seems normal in your 2010 Ford F150 Crew Cab 4x4.

        • Q:

On 99 through 02 Trans am it is recommended to replace the axel with the bearing, because there is no race and the bearing runs directly on a machined part of the axel. Will this help eliminate this or do you have the axels at a reasonable price.

        • Q:

We spent two hours trying to beat this thing into the axle, only to have it not go in far enough to get the c-clip back on. Eventually it shattered into pieces, causing us to revert back to the original style bearing and seal, which is now leaking again within 1 day. Why are they made from pot metal that's easily bent and breakable ?
