Comments about Autolite Revolution High Thread Spark Plug:
Run injector cleaner through gas before removing plugs to remove carbon build-up from around plug. This will prevent end of plug from breaking off on removal. It is very common for these plugs to break off in the cylinder head when carbon encases the end of the plug. I have had 100% success on removal after using carburetor/ injector cleaner for several tanks and have had 100% failure just trying to remove the plug on engines that have over 100,000 miles. Not sure how many tanks are actually required but 2-3 did the job. Have also see this plug design tick like a bad valve. [$] spark plug is much cheaper than a $2500 head job.

Comments about Autolite Revolution High Thread Spark Plug:
I bought these plugs for my '07 F-150 because it had a misfire sometimes in 4th gear going up hills. I knew the plugs were notorious for breaking so I first tried the dealer ship who wanted $400 just to change the plugs and another $150 for every broken plug..I said no thanks. When I actually tried to change them the first 2 broke, so I had to order the Lisle 3 vavle broken spark plug remover (which works very well). I took the rest of the coils off and sprayed every plug with a very good penetrating oil and let it sit for a few hours. After that I only broke one more plug. But now all are changed and it runs much better and seems to get a little better gas mileage.

What is the best tool to remove the old plugs. I understand that they seem to snap off in the head real easy. Also if it does snap off is there a removal tool that works well? What is also the best penetrating oil to use to soak the head/spark plug well in to get the old ones out?1 answer

A:
Instructions to remove old spark plug: 1. Gently grasp a spark plug wire by the boot (the place where it connects to the spark plug), twist it, and pull it straight out. 2. Use a soft, clean rag or a small paintbrush to clean the area where the spark plug enters the block. 3. Place your spark plug socket (the big one with the rubber lining) over the spark plug; exert some pressure while turning it slightly to be sure that it’s all the way down. 4. Stick the square end of your ratchet handle into the square hole in the spark plug socket. 5. Loosen the spark plug by turning it counterclockwise. 6. If it feels stuck, try a little spray lubricant. 7. When the ratchet turns freely, finish the job by removing the ratchet handle and turning the socket by hand until the plug is free from the engine. is the same plug that is known for snapping off inside the head ?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
No, this Autolite Revolution High Thread Spark Plug with part# HT15 is not supposed to snap off inside the head as Autolite designed the HT-15 to run hotter. Hotter-running plugs do not corrode and foul, and are self-cleaning. The spark plug continues to be a two-piece design, but incorporates a nickel plating to prevent corrosion and carbonization. The old Autolite plugs were designed with copper sheath and threads, which were prone to fusing, corroding and breaking.Q:
