This is the third starter I've put on this vehicle, and by far , this starter is the best I've found. The starter was reasonably priced, workmansship appears excellent, and turns the v10 engine over easily. I think it actually turns over quicker than it did when brand new. Only time will tell of it's durability, but so far I'm extremly satisfied!

Starter did not work

I purchased the starter online, picked it up at the store and installed it on my truck. The truck still would not start. I assumed something else was wrong, so I had to have the truck towed to shop (expensive), and I was told the starter was bad. I informed them it was new, and they said take it back and get your money back, it doesn't work. The shop said they would not install an Advance starter and replaced it with the Ford starter and now my truck starts again.
I took it back to store and had trouble at store because employee 1 "tested it" and said it worked fine and he could not give me my money back. I tried explaining to him that regardless of what his machine told him, I had it on the truck and it did not have enough power to turn the engine over. Luckily, employee 2 heard our conversation and came over and told him to give me my money back and to throw the starter in the defective box with the "rest of them". THE REST OF THEM!?!?!?!?!?!?
Now, on top of a tow charge I didn't need, I also had to pay the core charge to the shop because I could not give them the Advance starter, since I needed it to get my money back.
Considering the trouble, the towing expense, the core charge and the indignity of having the store employee tell me that it worked correctly, I think I will take my business elsewhere.

I was very impressed with the test sheet displaying the many tests that the starter went thru. It cranks my 6 volt VW engine without any problem. I was not impressed with the cosmetics. Normally a repaint is done but not this one. It looked very used. But who crawls under to look at a starter, main thing is, it works. If it had looked better I would have given it a 5 star.

Be careful when tightning battery wires because the piece is made of plastic and it will break if you tighten too much...other than that it does exactly what its supposed to do, start your car.
