Comments about Monroe Sensa-Trac Light Truck Shock Absorber:
I learned the hard way when puchasing shocks that cheap is not the way to go. After much research I decided to try the sensa-tracs. My 98 S10 is much more stable now with very little dive and body roll and never comes close to bottoming out. It is definitly safer to drive now that rough surfaces don't overwhelm the suspension. My only complain is they are a little stiff but this may improve as they break in. I still prefer stiff and stable over mushy and lack of control.

Comments about Monroe Sensa-Trac Light Truck Shock Absorber:
Installed on a 96 GMC Sonoma. Original shocks had 138,000 miles on them. Easy install. Factory rubber bushings more "bountiful" than the Monroe rubber bushings. Still seem OK

I have these on a ford van and liked them so I put them on my daughters blazer. They seem to be very good shocks.

I replaced a set of Bilstein shocks on my 2000 S10 and even though the Bilsteins were fairly worn out the ride quality did not improve, but is now VERY bumpy!

Comments about Monroe Sensa-Trac Light Truck Shock Absorber:
Bought this and a pair of 37099 for a 2000 blazer. The handling and drivability were greatly improved over the previous performance shocks that were installed. Would highly recommended these Monroe shocks to anyone looking for shock replacements. Easy installation both front and rear.

Comments about Monroe Sensa-Trac Light Truck Shock Absorber:
Bought a pair of these along with a pair of 37019 fronts to replace badly worn stock shocks on 2001 Chevy S10 2.2L 5spd 2WD at 92,000 miles. Great improvement in ride control over uneven pavement, especially at highway speed, and much less noise and "road chatter" noticeable in cab. Noticeably stiff in the first 1,000 miles, these shocks slowly got smoother after that, and continued to resist dive in braking, and to deliver great ride and handling. Overall, the truck is far more stable and predictable in handling, across all surfaces, and therefore, much easier and more fun to drive, than it ever was, even new, with the stock shocks. These Sensa-Tracs are a good value, too, particularly for trucks that will be mostly on-road use.

I bought some Monroe shock absorbers several years ago and they made my truck have a very firm ride. I was told to buy cheap shocks and it would ride smoother. Is that still the case today? Would the Sensa-Trac ride smoother than the other Monroe's?1 answer
A:
The Sensa-Tracs I bought for my Chevy S10 seemed pretty "firm" for the first 1,000 miles or so, but have smoothed out quite a bit, thereafter. Also, Monroe Sensa-Tracs have "Position Sensistive Damping" technology, which is a kind of highly progressive damping that stiffens the shock more, and still more, for increasingly large suspension deviations. It will seem a little stiffer than other gas shocks over small ripples and bumps, but it really soaks up big jolts like potholes, and keeps the vehicle a lot more stable than other shocks I've used. Also, because of this PSD type progressive valving, Sensa-Trac shocks are a lot more sensitive to tire pressure and sidewall stiffness, than cheaper shocks; you might find you can really "tune" your ride settings very nicely, with a few PSI change in tire air pressure. Stability in driving and braking are much more important to me than small differences in ride quality.
