A slotted nut and cotter pin for a more secure installation
Remove the cotter pin and take off the king nut. The tie rod should come out of the steering knuckle. Once out, simply unscrew the inner tie rod from the outer tie rod and replace with the new one. Put everything back together just like you took it off. Be sure that before you remove the outer tie rod from he inner tie rod, mark on the threads where it stopped so that you do not go too far in or not far enough in that could set off your alignment. An alignment may still be necessary after this repair.
