Comments about Dorman - Help Air Conditioning Bypass Pulley:

Ac compressor seized up. I bought this as an "exact fit" for my 2001 Ranger 4Cyl 2.3L 2WD manual transmission. Only 2 of the bolts line up. The top rear bolt wont line up with the mounts on the motor. I torqued the two front bolts down and it seems stable. FYI you have to use the included pulley spacer to get the serpentine belt to track correctly. I started up and it seems to run fine despite being 1 bolt short.

Comments about Dorman - Help Air Conditioning Bypass Pulley:

The Motormite (Help!) line of parts has been saving people for as long as I can remember. Being a veteran autoparts salesmen I have sold my share of this line of parts.

Well today they saved me! Thank You!!

Notes: For my application the bolt that came with the kit were wrong, but thats ok. I just ran down to the local hardware store and picked up what I needed. I had insstalled with the belt on, and the belt was not tracking right. Thats when it hit me. The single silver piece in the hardware pack was a spacer. I took the pulley off, put the spacer on and reinstalled the pulley. Put the belt back on and I was good to go.

I have an 88 f150 with 5.0 and I got the ac bypass kit. The bolts are way smaller diameter than the old ones. What are the spacers for?

                A:

The Dorman - Help Air Conditioning Bypass Pulley part# 34184 is an exact fit for your 1988 Ford F-150 Pickup 5.0L. Regarding the spacers, it depends on the hardware you need for the application. If your vehicle uses 10 mm hardware then you don't use the bushings. If it uses 8mm hardware you use the bushings that best match the depth of the bracket holes. The large spacer is for spacing the pulley out a bit for belt alignment. This would go behind the pulley if the belt sits too far back. For more information, please feel free to call us at 1-877-238-2623 or visit your nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our technicians would be more than happy to assist you.

Yes it does discharge the A/C system but that way is illigal and you could get fined. You need to take it to a shop so they can evacuate it.
