Comments about Rancho RS5000 Series Shock:
The shock vastly improved the Jeep's ride. They smoothed out the bumps and it feels' as if I have better control.

Comments about Rancho RS5000 Series Shock:
The Rancho shocks were very easy to install on my Jeep Wranger Rubicon and the wheels on the ground. My only complaint is there was no guidance on how tight to compress the upper mounts.

Comments about Rancho RS5000 Series Shock:
These were to replace existing Ranch RS5000s. These shocks are very durable and can withcstand the occasional offroading and definitely smooth out the daily drive. This part was used on a lifted jeep 3.5" and they still have plenty of travel just in case someone was wondering about fit to modified suspensions.

Comments about Rancho RS5000 Series Shock:
[...]. They came with no instruction, but are easy enough to figure out. I used some mild lubricant to get the boot onto the shocks, but that was my only real problem.

Comments about Rancho RS5000 Series Shock:
Advance matched the best Internet price I could find, and was very gracious and helpful doing that. Installed front shocks on 2003 Grand Cherokee w/Class 4 (10,000#)factory hitch. (Rear Rancho shocks were out of stock in Aug 2010, but will be installed ASAP). 85K miles on original OEM shocks, which were standard double acting gas shocks. Original suspension was extremely harsh but smoothed-out considerably after installing 2" wider Bridgestones when the factory Michelins wore out. Changing to the Rancho 5000 shocks took out the rest of the bumps. The factory shocks had added to the already extremely stiff springs to give a jolt w/every dime in the road. The Rancho 5000 offers little resistance on compression but stops the shock extension on rebound, per the Rancho site, so only the springs are inhibiting downward action instead of a spring & shock combination. Unbelievable difference in ride smoothness on washboard to Interstate roads. Pulling left during heavy braking was eliminated, also, because that was caused by a weak shock and not bad brakes. I also replaced the OEM steering stabilizer with a Monroe Magnum, which removed all the side-to-side wobble, especially on uneven pavement ripples. My monor steering corrections are now nil. So I have a Jeep with a really high towing capacity that rides smoothly when empty --- the way it should have been from the factory. I did not give this shock 5 stars because there are no instructions in the box or on the Rancho website, so exactly where to position the accordian boot is not known, nor did I know ahead of time to have a thin or plate wrench available for holding the top of the shock immobile during installation. They included a standard nut, not a locknut, for the shock top rod. They did not include a hex indentation in the bumper cover to keep it from loosening, nor give instructions for correctly tightening the top nut. I had other info to consult and lock nuts to use, but Rancho should have provided both. BTW, a web site that describes the accordian boot as a pretty decoration that resulted in moisture inside the boot that rusted the piston rod may be right about the moisture, but the chrome-plated rod should not have rusted, anyway, unless there was a plating defect. Also, since the shocks are mounted upside-down from OEM, with the rod up, not down, dust and dirt will land on top the rod seal entry and will be dragged thru the wiper and the seal, chewing the seal to bits, unless the accordian boot is keeping the dirt out. So installing the boot is not an option --- it's a necessity.
