Comments about Dorman - Help Door Hinge Pin and Bushing Kit - 4 Pins, 4 Bushings, 2 Washers, and 4 Clips:

The item was easy to install on a 2000 Sierra. The only snag was that the originals had to be ground out. Some people bang them out with a drift punch, but if the hinge bracket bends you've got a welding project ahead!

To facilitate access for my grinder, I removed the door completely & set it aside. There are 3 wiring terminal blocks to disengage under the dash kick panel, plus one wire-way grommet. Remove the back-check bolt, lift & the door is yours. Hint: Open the window first, then when you lift it off, there is a good place to hold. I'd guess the door weighs well under 100 pounds, so it's easy to carry. (Or set it on a furniture dolly.)

Hanging the door by a rope from an overhead rafter or tree limb would also work- No wires to remove- there is plenty of slack to leave them connected if it is hung.

The new parts fit snugly & perfectly in the hinge plate hole. If your bracket hole is egged out, weld it closed & re-drill. Maybe JB Weld would work?? The new stuff is held by snap clips, so it will be easy to get out without grinding next time.

    Speaking of Next Time ...
These were installed 26,000 miles ago. Despite of being kept clean and well lubricated, the bronze (brass?) is worn away already, causing wind noise & a water leak. The door sags terribly. For this go-around, I'll test another brand or turn some on the lathe.
