Comments about BWD Sensor - Vehicle Speed:

When looking for these items, my vehicle requires two, an input and output sensor. The descriptions online were vague and I wasn't readily aware of which sensor was which. Once found this item installed easily and fit well. I had other problems so I'm not sure this fixed my problem, but the parts were needed.

The vehicle speed sensor is located in the external housing of the transaxle near the starter in your 1994 Dodge Shadow.

                A:

I do not have a diagram here but can help you with the location. Input and output speed sensors are located on the side of the transmission case across from each other. They are plastic and screw into the trans on 3.3l and 3.8l. 3.0 may have the sensor where the pass side axle goes into the tranny.

I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

              • A:

Your vehicle is in Limp Mode. So its actually in Second gear. You have to get a diagnostic scan done to read the codes and figure out where the problem is specifically. Most auto parts stores do this for free. Transmission shops and the dealear would charge you for a diagnostic scan. Find out the codes. then research the code online. If its a sensor you can probably do it yourself. but more than likely its your TCM. The computer that controls your transmission. I recommend going to the dealership at that point.

It is located near where the engine is connected to the tranny but on the back side of the tranny near the bottom it looks exactly like the coil plug in.

It should be located on the back side of the transmission when looking down at it from in front of the vehicle.
