    should i gap these at .035 as they call for or .040 as it says on the car?

      You should gap the spark plugs to the gap that your manufacturer asks for.

      If the manufacturer of the engine/vehicle documents the gap to be set at .040", then gap them at .040". Always trust the manufacturer's documents over 3rd party sources. if in doubt, call a dealer's service center for the latest information or look for specifications in the owner's manual.
