The Remy starter seems to be working fine so far. The only problems I ran into with this particular vehicle was the absolute nightmare of getting the old starter out and the new one in. I was reminded of the old joke about the obgyn turned mechanic who assembled an entire engine through the exhaust pipe. The people at GM were definitely not thinking about replacement when they shoe-horned this thing into the design. Maybe they just have tiny hands?

I own a 2001 Chevy S-10 ZR2, Chevy has issued a technical service bulletin on the original starters built during 2001. The TSB was because of solenoid icing resulting in a no start in temps below 20 degrees. The starters with the icing fix was to come out later that year. recognizable by a yellow paint dot on the nose. is this starter one that has the fix?Asked on 11/2/2011 by Gene1 answer
