Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Power Steering Pump Pulley:

Six months ago I had the OEM pulley replaced with a smaller OD (plastic) pulley to increase pump pressure, to aide steering. An undersize was not available from Dorman. The mechanic said it would be fine... it "fell off" leaving me stranded. It would be great if Dorman offered an underdrive pulley too (in steel)!

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Power Steering Pump Pulley:

Although it was rather difficult to install the pulley works very well and even though i had a slight accident resulting in the pully getting hit with a hammer prior to install it did not get damaged or bent like the pulley i was replacing with this one. Good work, Great Quality

      • Q:

Is this what I would replace if I think it's causing squealing in my belt/pulley system? I've already replace the tension pulley, idler pulley, belt, and alternator. But I bought this part and it doesn't seem to have a bearing in it, and it sounds like replacing it is harder than I thought. So I don't want to get wrapped up in this project if it won't even solve my problem. Thank for any advice.

The noise may be coming from the belt itself. Did you check into that?

          A:

You have to use a pulley puller kit and i would recommend alltrade tools kit 20 remover and installer as that is the kit i used to remove the pulley and to install the new one it worked quite well just make sure you get a new one if your intention is to buy it and not use the loan a tool (unless of course you want the loan a tool). But it gives very clear instructions on how to use the tool the remove and reinstall the pulley

          A:

What a PITA it is. There is a special tool to press/pull it of and one is included with the pump to press it on. And you HAVE to remove it as the mounting bolts for the pump are behind the pulley. I found out the hard way that it is not bolted on (the hex is in the end of the main shaft, it's not a bolt, duh) This is not explained in the manual. It's press on and off only. Do not hammer it.
